Okay seeing those new images and reading the description..I think I really really want it now but I probably won't be able to justify the likely high price it'll have. Man..that's gonna be one nice piece. I look forward to seeing it at least. Maybe it will be a reasonable price? One can hope. What are your guesses at the retail price? I'm thinking low end $80 high end $120 based on the Transformer Masterpiece prices.

Wallet = doomed. They are essentially HMM/Bat-Op hybrids.
OUCH. If I recall, this is EXACTLY where I said the line should consider going with Rebirth.

Ouch, I only pray Vertigo is right on the price. I'd expect at least $200-$300. I hope it can also move of its own volition/walk instead of needing to be on the stand. It sounds like it'll be pretty impressive either way.

A little confused...is this the final version of that RC Liger? The original prototype used the "new" Shield Liger design. Or are they seperate products?

I'm not sure if they will be making more than one (seems unlikely to make 2 shield ligers?) or if they just used the material hunters shield liger as an example? Or maybe they were going to make the material hunters shield liger but they had to scrap the idea?
I think the two products are related, just not 100% sure how

The new photos are making me even less convinced that this thing will be able to walk or run like the RC. I don't think it will move nearly as much as the one in the video, and looking back at the translations it doesn't say anywhere that it can walk or run. Just that the footwork is more lifelike, which according to the new photos looks like manual posing, not motorization. The 'footsteps' mentioned in the list of features is in the 'sounds' section, not actual movement. It's still looking awesome, but more and more like a different product.

It's all kanji to me! Basically, they're showing prototype pics in this month's issues of Figure King (Next Hobby View), Dengeki Hobby Magazine (Dengeki Hobby Satellite) and Hobby Japan (Hobby Japan Frontline - this one might not have gone ahead, as there's no sign of Zoids in the link). There's also the Dengeki news post Hanyoutai just linked, which has the same text as the DHM entry but more pictures. looking back at the translations it doesn't say anywhere that it can walk or run. Just that the footwork is more lifelike, which according to the new photos looks like manual posing, not motorization. electronic actions, such as animal-like footwork, breathing motions and head shaking. If the "footwork" is electronic, I'm going to assume it at least acts like it's walking. (We never did see the Concept liger off the stand, did we?) We can still hope! Now, let's see what scraps of new info the Dengeki page gives us... "included pilot figure can be placed in cockpit" "lifelike movements, lights and sounds, such as activation (breathing noises, chest and back movements), walking (feline animal-like paw movements), roaring (opening mouth while turning head)" "Reproduces paw-like foot movements, and can keep contact with the ground while looking animal-like." "Added a function where the side parts of the face can deploy, which the old toy didn't have. Missile pods and rear beam gun can also deploy." "Tail displays flexibility by using rubber material as the shaft."

Sounds more and more like a display model permanently on the stand so it can animate. I guess we'll all know soon. The other question is, what do they consider a "series"?

It's good to hear that it may have actual walking. That will be excellent! TakaraTomy has added a new individual page for the Masterpiece Shield Liger which includes nice clear photos! I hadn't noticed before that two new E-Shield Generator panels had been added around the top of the head. A nice random addition! I love to see redesigns take on new features.

I'll give it this... I prefer almost every aspect of this sculpt to the HMM version. It looks stockier, tougher, and heavier. Rather than tacking on some shock-looking pieces to solid legs, this thing has full-on 3D springs and struts, and you can see THROUGH the legs. Looking over several sets of photos, it is clear that the model can 100% stand free of its cradle. You can also see some of the clear substructure in this latest set, where the core will make it glow from the inside.
I have to admit, I am trying to keep all reservations in place, but it is looking like a fantastic piece of work.

Man, look at that panel lining! Really the thing really does achieve that "alive" look they were going for!
