Lately I've had the itch to scratchbuild my own gatling guns / vulcans (CP-03 is too damn rare!) and thanks to a neat japanese site, I have a basic idea.. I've collected plenty of pen and mechanical pencil bits to make barrels in a variety of sizes. However, I have no idea what to use for circle-shaped things.. to insert the barrels into. Has anyone built anything like this successfully? I might have to drill holes into some form of disk I could find/make.. What do you guys use for a drill? I've heard of something called a something-vise... ... that I forgot the name of. ^.^

2 liter pop bottle caps might work as parts.
Also, plastic sheeting and such at your local hobby shop.
They should also have push-drills too...

Easily solved problem for your Gattling gun....
Get thing aluminium tubes (in the engineering/train section) at the hobby store. That is where you'll find an array of tubing of different sizes etc...
Furthermore, the tubes already have holes in them to add the realism. If you do not like working with aluminium, you can opt to purchase the thin plastic circular rods (also from the same section).
A company call "Evergreen" make all different sort of plastic card, and the company that makes the metal tubing is another american company (that I cant rmember)....

*It might just be me, but I personally think that it would be easier to take a cast of a gattling cannon that you already have and make it as a resin mold. Simple, mold wait, dry, remove, sand, paint and assemble onto the model...

what i need is the circles to put the tubes -into-... if anyone has ideas. tubes i have. what kind of drills? i don't know if a resin cast would work so well for the open-air-nature of a gat, but maybe! how do you make those?

Naw, i put the commandwolf AC cannon on saber tiger (it's a lot better size for it) and uhh.. speaking of ST, ever notice how the royal guard fellas had the same markings as the techno-zoids? It would actually be the Zoids 2 one they're using, but since the TZ one is the same, you're right. For some reason, Tomy has encorporated the Zoids2 line in the NJR line (there's a Claw and some other Z2s in a fanbook somewhere listed as MK-II Newtypes).

For drilling holes, you can use a pin vise. Go to the hobby shop and ask for pin vise drill bits. There is such a large array of sizes that is bound to have one suitable for drill a hole for the gattling cannon...

for the circle peice and the main gun body try using the pens which have multiple colours in them.

Well this is from my old liger custom. Hopefully the vulcan design will help. And to help it spin I used a lego piece that spins. hope it helps, ~JuNo~

Well, you solved my problem by not -using- a circular piece. ^_^ yours is more unique, definitely, but for what I'm attempting to make I'd definitely need a disk of some kind, and still have no idea where to get one.. except possibly a film canister's cap. that might work. PIN VISE! Yes, that was it. thank you! pin vise. i'll remember it this time. *crosses fingers* btw, i finally got my ltd ed dark horn, and in case i feel like putting the cp-03 elsewhere, does anyone know where you put the metal spring coil on saber tiger? I could SWEAR I've seen it hooked in somewhere, but I can't find it...

I think the spring is hooked to the Saber Tiger CP. On the circular part that goes behind its neck.
