Vig : i now know what you mean😂 thank god gojulas has only 2 legs! shovelchop81 : I have no experience with this how would it look like? Would be such a pleasure withno knife cutting! Damn that's a lot of parts! Just as well this isn't a kit of the new movie Power Rangers 8 legged mastadon! A hot knife is basically a soldering iron with a bladed tip that you cool with a wet sponge to control the temperature, nothing fancy, no idea if it would work but might be worth experimenting on some scrap sprues. Probably smell terrible now that I think of it, I used to nick my dad's soldering iron to do my first 1/6 customs as a kid, makes really good scars and battle damage!

Okay, I might need to rephrase my position on building really quick- I wouldn't cut out all parts on a runner before building, nor would I even cut out all "bundles" for a page. I do what I mentioned before- building "by step," where each numbered step in the book only has a few parts needed, so I cut out the 5- or so parts for that step, assemble them, then move on to the next step and cut those out, assemble those, then move on, etc.
De-nubbing is always tedious, especially with small parts with less surface area with which to grip the part. I am very impatient when it comes to this, so my basic strategy is to cut out the parts as close to the part as possible, then run over the gate mark with my fingernail a few times to "shave off" the loose plastic. It usually looks acceptable, and if not, I'll just go over with a file for the bigger nubs.
The one flaw with this technique is that it is never 100% smooth, and sometimes if I'm too rough, I will eat away a crater in the plastic where the nub was, and it won't look so great. Also, my fingernails suffer greatly from this stress, so I alternate fingers when doing this. It's a pretty rudimentary strategy, but it gets the models done MUCH faster, even if their looks aren't quite up to par with the stock photos.
All I want is to get the kits done so I can play around with them- nub marks never really bothered me, as many factory-made toys have nub marks on them, too, so there's no reason for a self-assembled kit to be any different. I'm not anywhere near a professional modeler, and I hardly paint or detail at all- I just build them as action figures.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About that Death Stinger, man I hated how all 8 legs were back-to-back in the instructions- it was frustrating having most of the model's bulk done but being unable to stand! I think I should have built a couple of legs between the head and body, and a couple more after each claw, etc.

first, here are somme feet! might be double the size of the OER! CiSSuperdroid: I did things like this in the past but with my age my ways to look at the zoids changed so i try to cut every little nub and get mad about it😂. shovelchop81: interesting thing i did not see such thing for a long time and guess last time someone did cut styropors with that. For zoids i would fear damage to the parts but it should take a try as you said!

I love those articulated toes! One of the biggest selling points to me oddly enough. Yeah the hot-knife is usually used on hard foam for sculpting, it's just an idea.

looks already like the beast he should be, only backpack is to be done! You can put this in great poses also if you dont like it too comicstylish. As i made them do a similar pose i am really satisfied with the new one, but man he's way bigger😳

shovelchop81 : i did not either! But the look and proportions are good, had some fears right to the end that he is to much Comic style, but the design is well balanced to me. Enbahan : Thanks! Yes i guess they are mostly larger, my Mirage liger HMM Version is larger than the shield liger OER i got for example. But these may be not 100 % to be compared. Will now heading for the Backback, and hope that someday the weapons pack with the large cannons arrives from Japan (its on the way now for 2 Months...).

Man, I was never really fond of the original '80s upright theropod design, but following this thread has made me really like the HMM version! ... Until I look into my wallet, of course =p

itsdone! thanks for sharing this great experience to build this monster with me! Was always motivation when i could talk about the building steps! The kit is awesome for me and fun to build. I had no problems or could see any mistake in the manual. Only thing i had to change was the silver pilot! lets see if i can build these Ogre too...

SteelRain: Good to know you had some impressions. If you think about getting this Zoid i would always prefer hunting it down in japan. Ok shipping costs are high but you can get Gojulas there for a fair price. I got mine over yahoo jp.

Japan's about the only place they sell them anyway! Just be prepared for hurendous import taxes and charges if you live in the UK, the Japanese like to do things by the book unlike the Chinese who'll do you a favour marking the value low and as a gift.

Ok you are right it could take years to detail. I guess i would do it in an acceptable Time only with black color for most of them. Some Zoids are not looking really good without that and i did that with Firefox and Mirage Liger. For Gojulas it is not a must for me, i am more focused on beginning with the Gojulas Ogre.
