I managed to get a Gojulas HMM for a good price and where curious to see on myself how this interpretation of this great zoid as a HMM is. Now i build about one ore two sides of the instructions a day and hope to get this beast done some day! The first steps where pure fun, when the cutting is done the parts fit siply perfect. Compared to my Blade Liger it also seems that the connections for movement are not that vulnerable. In comparison to my old OER Gojulas the HMM is a good mix from the old design and new ideas and decent colors. I know there are many pics of building this zoid on the www but these are often already painted and can't give an impression of the pure parts and colors. Also wanted to build the Gojulas before i give it a try with the Ogre. Still waiting for the additional weapons for the Gojulas hope they will rock!

Excellent! So glad you are doing this thread, it'll be quite a while before I attempt my Ogre so watching you build this will be a nice substitute and please let us know about any tricks or problems. A time lapse build on you tube doesn't help with any of that and is pretty boring not being able to interact unlike a live thread!

I agree with Shovel; it is good to see how the stock HMM is coming together, and seeing the pics next to the OER is a great way to compare. I still like the features of the original head a bit more than those on the HMM! If I ever get that kit, it will take a lot of time to sand down all of those shovel teeth into something less construction vehicle looking. Its always interesting to see how Koto interprets certain details, sometimes to great effect.

Thanks for feedback! I really hope it giv s some new views on the set and also might give some help for those who build the Ogre. I go ahead a with another 2 sides of the instructions.

Hmmmm....if only looking at the head, I think it got the "Gojulas" feel. But once the head connect to the body, I feel it become something else....

Gojulas Omega : I know what you mean i am sometimes unsure too about how good the unique Design is still there. Over all i must say i am pleased with the new design, as it has many of the cool Details of the Original. Proportions are different, the HMM ist bigger and Looks more industrial, where the OER has ist 80s Charme. Especially the Gold an silver Colors look very good on the design in my Point of view and match with the original Colors. I will post another pic to compare the Body. It is not that different to the OER like it seems i guess. thanks Cougan

One thing that is a major, overall difference I feel is that the HMM is very squared and machined, but the original had a more organic feel to it. Seeing the head in this angle is interesting; the toy version has more detail in many cases. The back of hte head here is just a box (unless pieces are still missing?) where the OJR has vents, ridges, and a more compelling form. For me, anyway. This angle also shows the head had almost 90-degree flat angles where the OJR has a bit of flow. This version does look sturdy and strong, but I'm still standoffish about it.

Yes i see these parts that are flat. And the fin on the neck of the HMM cant moved in a position like the OER. Amazing what cool details the old one has more body parts! comparison

Again, there is lots to like; interpretation of the guns is a really great improvement. The strength of the torso looks good, but the more I see the head and neck the more I feel they went cheap with the design; the ribbed hoses are replaced with plain pipes if they are included at all, the detailed hydraulics and cables in the neck almost don't exist. Because they shaved the entire back of the neck off, the placement of the sails looks poor in comparison.
Mind you, having seen the kit many times I still say the thing is impressive and does get a lot right, but being able to see them side by side really showcases where improvements could be made.
One of my current set of commissions is essentially a re-work of the OJR Gojulas, so it will be interesting to see what I can do with that older kit.

Wow cant wait to see your version! And yes you're right the back side of the head is not that impressive. But maybe they had to cut of a bit to gain some movement options for the upper jaw. I wonder if someone has painted a Gojulas OER that way all the details come out properly? I wanted to do that but had no time as there are so many tiny things to paint.
Hope to go ahead tomorrow with the gojulas HMM as today family is first

The back of head looks different for more articulation which is what this figure is all about and it doesn't need that heavy metal weight there for the motorized jaw gimmick of the original; plus it needs clearance for the "over the shoulder" jetpack mode as the fins rise as well (something they could have improved on). Aside from the shape of the teeth (which can be fixed with a file as Maethius pointed out) it's looking great to me, the tail is going to be wicked!

First part of tail with weapons array and the weapons look good! Also still like the colors with the golden accents. Next parts of tail will be more tricky. At this time building process is still very easy everything fits perfectly.

I love this kit. It's so detailed and chunky yet still very expressive and fun to pose ^^. Nice pictures

From poses I've seen the work on the tail will be worth it, it looks very articulated!
