HMM 019 - Great Saber
HMM Line
From Wikipidea
Overview
The Zaber Fang is a Tiger-type Zoid (although it more closely resembles a Smilodon, a type of Saber-toothed cat), created by the Zenebas Empire, and used during the various wars on Zi.
The Zaber Fang was the first high-speed, large-scale Zoid ever constructed, as well as being the first of many cat-type Zoids. Its speed made it amongst the fastest Zoids of its time. While its weapons lacked capability when compared to other large Zoids, they were more than enough to deal with the numerous smaller Zoid types of its day.
While very fast and agile in its day, the Zaber Fang has since been surpassed by newer designs. Nevertheless, it is still considered to be a very capable and very dangerous opponent.
An improved version of the Zaber Fang was also developed, known as the Great Sabre. This version sported a large pack on its back that allowed it to leap and fly for short distances, as well as carrying additional weaponry.

The Box
Weapons
Triple Shock cannon, a missile pod, a Beam cannon
An upgraded large Beam cannon with two additional Beam cannon at the side and top. Compare to the old CP02 Attack Unit with only a single Beam weapon.
Eight hidable missile pod. Flipping it upside-down then inwards will result to the hidden missile pods. The old CP02 has only a flip gimmick only.
A moveable missile pod. The old CP02 has only a forward position with a rotation of 360 degree view and a static base. Now it has a full 360 degree view, thanks to the moveable base.
Wings. Can be bent back to the back and deploy when needed. As an aerodynamic airplane wing feeling... ;D
Tail wing stabilizers...SO %@#$ brittle... this is my third saber and I still broke some parts.. specially in the joints.
Articulations
Just see my review on the HMM Saber Fang for a detail review of the this kit

Assembly & Design
Still brittle like the other HMM Sabers. Its easy to build from the head, body and the legs since the manual is helpful... but from the tails to the Attack Unit its a disaster.. Its hard to build with a Japanese Legend Sprue but the actual manual has the wrong sprue indicating that part... and hells breaks loose... ;D So its very challenging. Aside from that the tail part is still brittle, the cause of this is might not be the plastic but the design itself since its joints are too small to wistand the moving parts. The back part that holds the Attack unit tends to break with force. The back part is the same with the HMM Saber Tiger Schwalz version, the difference is the front part which is new. The metal coil from the old CP02 is now a flat rubber parts which similar to the HMM SLMK2. For the design, it feels like the bigger the parts the better. I love the wings got bigger and a primary beam cannon got a lot bigger. It adds more to the black and red color scheme of this saber. Actually, a painted this saber with a flat black, the brownish black sprue did not appeal to me. ;D
Articulation & Features
For the articulation, you can check my old review since it still has the same range of movements. For its features, it got tons of it. Wings and missile pods folding up, it has so many weapon. Each weapon has its own articulations which means more poseability.
Overall Verdict
Has a price of a srp limited BL but with lots of features and articulations. Still a lot of improvements are needed to be perfect but its not the case of recolor/add weapons/rename kits. Yet it is an overall great improvement from the old Great Saber, but i still wish they stick with the color scheme of black and red which is shown in the kotobukiya website and not with the release version. If your a first timer on getting a saber, its really hard to suggest what to get from the two (Schwalz or Great saber) since its features are both great. If you have the bucks but still on a budget, i would like to suggest to get the two and skip the first saber.
The good
Big weapons
Big wings
black armor
The bad
Not so black armor
Brittle tail parts
Loose leg Parts
