Gilvy gets fanbook AND Zoids Graphics storylines, it's not that mysterious...hell, it does more than Gildragon ever did. Just because the story is in moonspeak doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I get what you're saying. It's part of what's so frustrating digging the story stuff - it's less of a blank slate than people think, even if it does argue with itself some. No need in building up a mystique around it, it's just another universe out of many.
I like Gilvader's colors too. They're very mad 80s like the rest of the Gradeups. And it actually makes black/purple/silver work, probably from the two-tone and the pinkred glowy. *flicks rocks at Geno Saurer and Storm Sworder Jet*

I never though Gilvader's colors were overdone... black, grey and purple? Yeah, he's got red clear bits, but the overall motif was still pretty stark. That was forgivable because he represented a front line uber command Zoid, so sure, make him stand out from the other Darks. Personally (I'm sure this will come as a huge shock to those who have seen my customs) I think they should have run all of the OJR Dark Zoids in teh black/grey and glowy theme, Gilvader breaking the trend do to his ancient origins and heightened status.
Just my bits.
As for Rosey Kitty, it isn't an unattractive kit (I rather like the deep brick colors, actually) but I've never been a holotech fan. I don't have a single crystal Zoid, and could only see obtaining one for parts if I got a good deal on it. Doesn't fit with my heavy-armored world I guess.

...I consider Gilvader as, say, a Dark Knight type, whereas Gildragon's colors mark him more as a Holy Order knight sort of thing. So despite many people's fervent obsession with the Eastern culture no one sees Gildragon as a Death God? Or in terms more people might understand, a shinigami? :p I still stand by Liger Pink Hime XD ...Actually, more would understand Death God as it's in plain English. Honestly, I just hadn't thought of Shinigami at the time. :P

Not really - my point is that it's inaccessible unless you know where to look in the dark corners of google... and that's very recent unless one knew japanese. Gildragon was on tv . Gilvy's got 80's power on his side too. He could be a potato with dragon head and buzz saws for wheels and he'd still probably go for several hundred dollars.

Honestly, I just hadn't thought of Shinigami at the time. :P It's a joke, I'm poking fun at the people who supposedly seem to be fanatical about their Eastern-based fandoms but don't seem to be able to join the dots too well. And quite sadly, more people do make the correlation if one does specifically state "shinigami".

*goes to add "the dark corners of Google" to her rotating site subtitle*
Gildy was on TV, yes, but Genesis didn't air in the US. It was torrentable and on Youtube until it got eated, I suppose, but they never explained much about it in-show, iirc, it just...got built up to, flew a bit, then broke a wing and dropped out of the plot worse than Rosa.
It probably is the 80s thing most of all - combined with the "it's the original so it must be better" factor that plagues many a fandom.

Gilvy's colours are waaay more imperial, intimidating, imposing & just plain evil than Gildragon's. In fact when I got Gildragon I was forced to run out & pick up a Gilvy off ebay cos the reissue just didnt hit that big bad dragon spot. For the record, I agree with Maethius- the more Dark Zoids, the better.
As for this one, well I'll be getting one aye. The thing looks pretty cool, but I do wish they'd be a bit more imaginative with their colour variant reissues/limiteds. How about a purple Guylos Redhorn or a black Furher etc etc...?? Or even some proper scary darker colours on (un)Dark Spiner/ Killer Spiner. Black or Zenebas Grey & Red would be ace on him...

A lot of the Guylos designs don't work well as Dark Zoids for me...I'd rather just have the few that really sell the look. Death Saurer and Saber Tiger woulda been kinda cool, though. Especially if the Death Saurer came with a GIANT LASER AXE. And why, why, WHY does black automatically equal evil and white equal good? White can be cold and imperial (especially with the pearl and gold thing goin' on), even if it's not Guylos-y. Then again, I hate the "Empire is all cool and EVIL!!" thing so, so much regardless of colors involved. One of these days I'm gonna snap and...well, Gilvader things over it :p. ...I still wanna make a Dark Zoid-style Rayse, because I think it could sell that look. Wonder what'd happen if you took Rayse GITD bits, Soul LEDs-in-glowy-bits wiring, and swapped its lights with blacklight LEDs. I'd probably have to, you know, get a Soul Tiger first to ponder that. (and I still hate you too, tongue smiley D:)

Mmmm, yay for holotech (version) of a liger zero. I love the red. Yeah, I have to agree that the liger's head on the box looks "off", but it still looks good!
