I always thought voting for your own entry was kind of odd. I mean, if you don't like your own, you've got some issues. I love my three customs. Sure they're simple, quick, and less than impressive, but they are mine. I adore my shiny sniper, my winged wolfie, and my tiger butt spider. But I'm not going to vote for them. yeah, i understand. let somebody tell you how good or bad your custom is coz for yourself, you'll always like your work -ghe

Well, I think I'll be changing the rules so that next year you can't vote for yourself. I was hoping I wouldn't actually have to make a rule about it and that people would just realize it's in poor taste to vote for oneself but I guess some people are just too selfish. I think that would be a good idea - you mentioned it last year, so I was surprised that it wasn't a rule this year. Personally I don't have a problem with people voting for their own custom (note - voting for 'the custom they made', not voting for 'themselves' - big difference) *if* they think that custom deserves to win. From what I've experienced, voting for one's own work is expected in the adult world, but discouraged in schools. Presumably due to a combination of assuming children lack the maturity to be objective and wanting to promote generosity. So I wouldn't put voting for one's own custom down to selfishness - I'd put it down to either honesty (if the custom is indeed one of the better ones) or immaturity (if it's not). Or perhaps fear of others' immaturity - "if they're going to vote for their own, I ought to as well"? That's my opinion - all of which is somewhat moot. It is undeniable that there is a strong opinion against voting for one's own custom on this board. Rather than turn people who do so (perhaps without realising the sentiment exists) into pariahs, it would be great to have rules in place that don't affect 'normals' but do ensure a generous atmosphere is maintained. I would whole-heartedly support a rule that went thusly: All entrants must vote, but may not vote for their own custom.

I think that voting for oneself is ok, but only at a few decrees. First, I think that if you make a custom that is a serious contender with the rest, you should be able to vote for yourself. I mean, cmon. No offense Darkness Fury, but yours definitely doesnt compete with [my] top five. I've sure it doesnt exactly come close with many other people's either.
But then there are customs in this contest that I would give the owner right to vote for, especially my top five. I'll just go out on a limb here, and say that last year, I would have defintely let VF-1A vote for himself, because IMO his custom was a step above the rest.
But for right now, thats too complicated. We'd need way more entries for that to take effect. I say ban voting for yourself.

Im relay lookign forward to the result. Let me say that this years contest has been incredible, and although it might have less enterants than last hears, i do believe all of this years were generaly of a much higher quality. it;s also great to see new darths and first time entrants. It;s also good to see some of the MIA darths come crawlign out of hte wood work, lured by the chance to show off. As the creator of arguably the most contraversial custom in the contest, let me say my hats off to you all. I might not like elements of your enteries, but you've all strived to impress, and in that you have succeded. NO matter who wins, it is the Craft of darthing that is the real winner this year.

I'm a Who fan. We had a computer system with the whole representation of mental self in fantasy word thing called the Matrix long before those darn movies.
Thus, I will do this.
