I felt this news was important enough to warrant its own thread. Mind you, as of this post we do not know if this is an OJR re-release, a re-colored OJR kit, an enhanced/updated OJR kit, or a Masterpiece kit! I guess we'll find out! Takara-Tomy Project-D announcement tweet!

Thank you! I really enjoy having products in their own thread. Makes it so much easier to follow.
While its always been one of those "must haves eventually" kits, I never actually got around to getting a moto Death Saurer. One of the Tomy kits will remain on that someday list, but definitely going to try to pick this guy up. I can't wait to see what kinda size it ends up being. The MPZ frame is quite noticeably chonkier than their predecessors. Also curious how closely they'll keep it to the original armor design.

I wouldn’t mind if we got Death Stinger and Seismosaurus.

I really wonder what they are going to do with the kit. Based on the vast data we've been given (mostly this pic) IF that's the kit, there are some things I've noticed... assuming they aren't just playing with Photoshop or digital imagery:
1) Proportions of the head/teeth are NOT those of the bat-op kit. The jaw is wider, not as tall, the head is broader, the teeth are less knife-like and more... tooth-like. They also appear not to be red.
2) Turned wrists and bent elbows!
3) The whole body looks not as deep and bulky, from what little we can see of it.
4) The tail is turned, There is also the matter of the different hardware at the tip of the tail.
Just a thought or two.

Some folks have been theorizing that they're going to carry the knowledge established with King G and Zero Grizis forward into the AZ Deathy, for a motorized action of it opening its arms and jaws as it fires its CPC. I think that'd be fun~
Good obersvations though, it's more than I could pick out of it, especially with the head proportions.

I COULD be wrong, but it looks to me like that rather phallic 'gun barrel' on the tail is just one wide facet of the tailtip, lit up. And above it is a stock rocket box. No new hardware necessarily. And since the head is turned, and I'm terrible at perspective, I couldn't say if the head proportions have changed. It's hard to say. I do think the Tomy side of things should listen to the Takara side and do what they've done recently with transformers; rerelease the original but with new joints to bring it up to modern standards

I will more than happily eat crow if this turns out to be what you'd actually expect from a MP Deathsaurer, but given how low-effort all of the anniversary releases have been (recolors of ZW kits with a new sticker, MPs with fewer features and new armor) and the fact that everything is always ligers, ligers and more ligers and also kitties and cats and felines and more ligers, I'll believe it when I see it...

I wish I could read Japanese (never learned, always wanted to!) so I hope we can get some more solid info soon!

Recycling existing mechanisms is what they're already doing, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them do the same with Deathy. I won't be disappointed without it, though. It's just fun to imagine.
Granted, I don't count the fewer features against the AZ release. The features, while neat, were a mess. Shieldy's mane would shift during roaring and jam the mechanism with gear grinding racket. With ligers that have backwards-sweeping manes and shoulder armor, it probably wasn't feasible to keep.

The bottom line of my review of the LZ in particular was actually that it's my favorite version of the Liger Zero so far. What I'm saying is that all these releases so far have looked like they're trying to keep R&D cost minimal, just taking existing designs and altering them as little as possible. A new Deathsaurer, even if they managed to recycle the AZ gearbox, would have to be a completely new model, not the MP frame with the armor pieces and a few other parts swapped out. But honestly, even just a straight rerelease of the original Deathsaurer with an LED instead of the lighbulb would make me all kinds of happy. I already have every variant, but I've been dying to get another one to paint or customize and just having easy access to affordable Deathsaurers would be fantastic.

Given that I need one more Deathsaurer for my personal Zoids Project, this announcement has my total attention. I do wish I had the time and budget to consider all of the AZ releases, but I'm very satisfied with what I do have to work with in my Zoids Hobby. I still may opt to pick up the Blade Liger, and/or the Shield Liger, but the Saber Tiger and now a potential Deathsaurer have my focus distinctly tuned!

That's the whole thing for me too. Getting an original Deathy is out of my price range these days, as much as I want one. If this one could come in even just a bit cheaper, I'd be ecstatic.
Also never knew the originals used straight up bulbs.
Been trying to grab all the releases but missed the pre-order window for Murasame, so picking that one up later. It's awesome that they've shifted to more antagonist Zoids, and I hope there's a couple more after this!

I too would be 100% okay with rereleases of old TOMY Zoids. And if they want to retool stuff, great. They have to remake the molds anyway. Tweak a few proportions, give Iron Kong back its thumbs, put in some more joints, separate some fused digits, and do it all over again at an AFFORDABLE price
