You can rearrange the weird tail pieces into something else, can't you? Like attach them to other parts of the body? Oh yeah, those are just bog-standard Zoids Wild CP parts with pegs and holes all over them, so they attach pretty much anywhere on the Zoid you want. Or just leave them off altogether. Come to think of it, maybe I should have done a color comparison without the additional parts, I think it probably looks great just as a Sonic Bird as well. But I do like the chunkier wings.

Here's the HMM Guysack. Kotobukiya's kill streak continues.

Woah...... beautifully done. A pity about the brittle parts, but I'm very grateful for the warning! I've only encountered the "uber-brittle" feature on two Zoids; my Iron Kong PK and one of my Seismosauruses.

The clear parts on most manufacturers' kits are always a bit more brittle, but that one piece that broke was like it was made out of bread crust.

Hey, are you going to nab the OJR color version? Man, that looks incredible!

Hey, are you going to nab the OJR color version? Man, that looks incredible! There's an OJR colored version? Source? I'm not finding anything on Kotobukiya's website. Having said that, the answer is... probably, but it also depends how difficult it is to get my hands on - I did already buy two of the standard colored kit, and obviously repainting it in its original colors is kind of at the top of my list of ideas anyway.

I'm surprised the little camera lens things on the tail and canopy hinge aren't clear parts too, I know at least some HMMs have tons of extra little clear parts like that.

I wondered about that, too. Hell, there are clear turn signals and break lights on several Zoids. Maybe they will be on the final version?

I suspect they'll be clear in the final version, since this is a painted sample and the corresponding parts look clear in the review photos?
As always, love the review! And I've really enjoyed watching the development of the HMM Guysack. They really seem to have had fun working on it, too. The kit has a lot of care given, and its amount of articulation makes it terribly tempting to pick up.

Thanks Maethius, I saw the post in the other thread as well. Not convinced this is really something I have to have, tbqh, but let's see how much the scalpers want for it...

Yeah, they would've made the entire sprue. Canopies work great in review photos, but recessed clear pieces usually turn black without a strong light shining directly into them. So they often paint those a solid color to make the detail more visible. Like how Rev Raptor's stock photos paint the eyes and head lense. Our first samples are usually fully painted and panel lined.

Ohhh that makes sense. Though you can solve that neatly by just painting something bright behind the clear part!

Ohhh that makes sense. Though you can solve that neatly by just painting something bright behind the clear part! Painting silver on the back of clear parts is basically a mandatory step for me. Instant 200% improvement.
