using that nice brown on the yellow rather than a harsh black. Thanks - that's always a good trick when it comes to panel lining, pick a color that actually makes sense as a shadow color and not just black. It does kind of help the smudged areas blend in, it's just not the look I was going for, really, so that's what bugs me. Accidentally okay-looking stuff is still okay-looking, but I don't like accidents ;-)

Gusock's up and running.
I also got the special edition Wild Liger, so I'll either do a quick one of that or Death Rex next. HLJ actually managed to get me my DR that I preordered, but not the Stegosage for some reason.

Finally finished the Death Rex review today, after having to rerecord the commentary twice. It's kind of a mess, but, well, here it is.

"Big swinging fern leaf things"
Nice video-- thanks for sharing! I tend to agree with a lot of your points-- yes, it could be better in certain respects, but it looks pretty rad in motion and I'm guessing in person. Funny, before you said it I didn't realize that this is the first pseudo-anatomically correct tyrannosaur Zoid.

I think it's more like they make DIFFERENT anatomy mistakes now

I think it's more like they make DIFFERENT anatomy mistakes now I dunno if I'd call any of it "anatomy mistakes" though, at the end of the day, these are fantasy creatures. Plus the science particularly on the t-rex has changed dramatically over the time that the Zoids line has existed, so "correct" in this case is also just kind of what paleontologists say this year, until they discover something new. I don't know why I'm rambling about this. I actually came in here to post this:

Just catching up.... Death Rex looks pretty darned good. It will be tough to make jointed customs out of him with all of those details on larger, otherwise static pieces. Interesting that not only does the mouth open, but the NECK seems to open up as well! I would definitely like to get my mitts on this kit! Stego seems pretty large, too. It is nice to have a new stego in the lineup, but I think I would have to mod him a bit to really love him. Thanks for posting the videos! They are much better than static photos to understand the kids better.

I'm trying to think of a way to make the legs a bit longer and to get rid of those ugly protrusions on the sides that the fern leaf claws attach to. I don't see how you can make the legs jointed without either buying multiples or replacing most of them with scratchbuilt stuff. Plus the kit's pretty heavy - good luck coming up with a hip joint that's going to hold up that torso...

Working on modding another Zoids Wild kit right now-- I can definitely attest to it being a lot of work to lengthen limbs. If they're all similar I'll really have to pick and choose which ones to make a big custom project out of.
Thanks for the steady stream of reviews! I'm holding off watching your Stego one since the one I ordered is in theory currently in transit.

Here's the Catalga. I'll have the Hunter Wolf up next week, but I can't imagine I'll be as impressed by that one as I was this one.

Dang, sorry about your audio issues, and that this is your least favorite kit so far. From your video, I actually don't mind how the Wild Blast stuff looks in either the folded or "deployed" position, but the walking motion does look very static. I do wish the head were a little smaller and the neck longer though.

Ah, it's all kind of funny, really. My hatred of Command Wolf was kind of a running joke on Zoidfans way back in the early 00s, and it really makes me chuckle how this latest woof Zoid is somehow yet again something I just can't seem to get along with, from everything going wrong with filming the review to the Zoid itself just not impressing me. Some things never change, I guess.
You know the best part? I'm totally a dog person.

So the woof didn't impress... I wonder if it would be a good base for a custom, though.
