Hi guys
Im an old fan of zoids toys and kits. My first kit was a triceratops back in the early 80's. Ive had a few others through the years when they were more mainstream but its been a while since i have put one together.
These new zoids are both larger and smaller than the ones i remember from the 80's and 90's. One of my favorite parts of the zoids are the lil cockpits and canopies that had lil gold or silver chromed plastic pilots.
That being said i noticed the MSS Godos and bought him first since he has an extra cockpit and jump seat. But wow this guy is soooooo tiny.
That lead me to wanting an HMM model so after some looking i chose the command wolf since it has 3 actual cockpits. Unfirtunately i could not afford the LC and AC version so i went with the repackage or RHI.
But to make up for it i had a can of testors star spangled blue laquer. This stuff is a beautiful blue metal flake that when sprayed on the white parts looked awesome (will post pics tomorrow.
This model is awesome i still cant velieve how much detail it has. It took me 12 hours wotking in 4 hour shifts to complete and i have yet to add any detail work.
One thing i miss though are the rubber now plastic caps. I just feel like thiet should be more. They kinda bring the machinations out.
I was also a lil disapointed in the articulation. I was really hoping to make a few silly poses like begging and so on but it wont work like that.
I still love the kit though and now i want to build a couple more.
My question is are there any other HMM models that come with extra canopy covered cockpits and pilot?

Well, there's also an HMM Godos. I plan on getting one myself! I forget if Gojulas has any extra seats or not. Cannon Tortoise has a cargo area which is kinda like it I guess?
Side note, those Testors paints are awesome. Purple-Licious is my favorite, can't wait to see how Mythical Maroon looks on my Blade Liger. Totally gonna do the CWolf in Ice Blue when I get around to getting one... But yeah, the Wolf is only the second HMM, the repackage probably had some improvements but the articulation definitely feels limited compared to the bigger guys.
One problem with rubber caps is that they degraded pretty bad over time, could be part of why the made the switch. My old Ligers' legs had a lot of trouble staying on after a few years.

I believe the Red Horn and Dark Horn have multiple cockpits. Aside from those two all I can think of are the CWolves. Which do have limited articulation, I planned on modding one to remove some limitations but haven't gotten around to it. (Just cutting away unnecessary plastic getting in the way of joints. I've done it before on action figures.)

Im no master modeler but i like to paint as much as possible. Gold and silver really make these models stand out in my opinion. Hell these master models dont need much any way.
Have you guys seen the paper craft Zoids lion-bot Voltron? That would make a great set of zoids HMM's. Sell them as 5 different kits.

Zoids and Voltron are two seperate things (as far as i know, someone correct me if i'm wrong, maybe there's been some crossover i don't know about) but yes i would pay serious money for a Voltron set that was HMM/PG quality.
Since there's a new Voltron series on Netflix now i'm cautiously getting my hopes up for one =)

I dont think theres been a cross over but kotobukiya makes models for a few genre's,.
I actually have one each of the lionbot model that splits into all five lions and a dairugger xv that also breaks into all 15 vehicles. You can find them on ebay. But they are really old.
Plus i dont see why not there seems to be gundam style zoids. Or at least they have classic gundam colors.
Keep forgetting to add this about the caps. .....
It doesnt really matter what they are made if as long as thete are enough to make it look like a zoid. Without the caps and cockpits they are just robot animals.
Im pretty pleased with the redhorn though it came with 3 sets of 8.

Voltron would have looked better if they had used Sabers, but it's impressive! I still prefer this use of Zoids:
