EDIT: These are illegitimate copies of Tsun's custom Mugen Ligers. By the price I am guessing this is a small operation, and there is a decent chance that what you buy will be so badly rendered that it won't be easily usable. Resin kits are already a decent customizing effort, and to have it reproduced once again over will most likely make it worse. The creator has confirmed that these are not his original products, yet, what you see pictured are pictures from his blog. They do not represent the actual quality of the items that you're buying. He's asked people not to buy the stolen goods.

That's horrible.. and unfortunatly in such a legal gray area, the original artist can't even do anything to stop it besides getting the word out.

I reckon they could try to turn them in, especially since the idea of PRE-order for this smells of fraud to me. But yeah obviously you couldnt get personal damage for it, only spite. But spite can be pretty great

This happens with a lot of Wonderfest Kits. Same happened to a Wargreymon kit from 2014, to give an example. It's tempting, I know. But it's still unfair to the artist... Also don't be surprised if these turn up on Ebay down the line...

Shoot I had no idea this was a stolen mod, someone sold me one of these and now I feel *Watch your language!* for not looking into it.
I was searching for some help advice on the build process for it since it was going smoothly until I hit the weapon build and can't figure out how they attach to the base model at all.

Is the original artist still selling kits?

Is the original artist still selling kits? The original artist said they only sold these at wonder festival. It's unfortunate that the only viable option if we really want these is by purchasing them from a pirate. I'm not one for supporting pirate operations though so I guess I'll just have to miss out. Not to mention they are charging an absurd amount of money for a CAS set and no guarantee of quality. All we can do is try to starve the pirates out and ask Tsun to create more originals and making them available globally.

If he's not producing them anymore it's unlikely he has legal rights over the original casts, I doubt he did to begin with as licensing is incredibly expensive so the actual designs of the characters will most likely only belong to TOMY/Takara so technically the initial artist's kit would be a KO/pirate version anyway hence the "Fan Made" clause that most custom builders use on eBay etc.. So in that case it's open season and since these are likely made in China intellectual property rights aren't recognised by their government/legal system. Would be useful to see pics of the actual parts being sold now. Demonlord should be able to help with that, as he said the following which implies he has hands on experience with the sets under discussion:

Looks pretty good! No air pockets or bad casts then? This is 1/72 right? Cheers.

None that I have found, all the pieces seem solid and minus a little bit of extra on some, nothing is missing chunks, I am only building the sword version so I haven't checked the alternative front shoulder pieces or guns for issues

That's not bad value then, I do quite a bit of moulding and the materials aren't cheap especially if you get faulty castings on a regular basis due to humidity, temperature or not having a vacuum chamber etc.. Sure some you can fix with filler and putty etc.. for yourself but not sell.

Ok so I pulled the trigger and grabbed these out of curiosity. These are pretty high quality. Obviously, there is some work to be done on the parts for it to be a finished piece but I have an idea to knock these pirates out. I'm going to scan the parts and try to make the 3d data available to everyone. Thoughts?

I'm going to scan the parts and try to make the 3d data available to everyone. Thoughts? Well in my case I'd have to pay someone on Shapeways to print them which would be counter productive as I'm sure it would end up more expensive and the material inferior in quality due to the layering system of 3D printers, dual nozzles or not; but for those who have printers I'm sure they will be grateful. I doubt this will have any effect on the pirates themselves as Asia would be their primary market and giving out the data would just create more pirates of sorts, a bit like starting your own torrent site? Not sure how the original artist would feel either as he obviously has tried to go after the pirates but failed and may turn his sights on you instead? Just my thoughts, nothing to back them up at all.
