Hey guys!
I wanted to update all of you with one of my ongoing projects.
I recently received my Form 2 3D printer and it is great. I've been working with a guy over in Japan on creating some custom armor for the Berserk Fury. Specifically the BF Shadow Edge armor as seen in the manga.
One of my ongoing projects is a posable Zeke figure and possibly the other organoids as well. It is an iterative process that's taking me a while. I also switched from Solidworks to Sketchup for doing all of my 3D modeling since it is more conducive to model making in my opinion.
Lastly a new project I have started is a "built from the ground up" HMM style Konig Wolf. This will be the most technical modeling challenge that I have attempted and I've already learned a lot so far. I hope to have the model complete by mid-may.
I'll keep you all posted.

Oh wow, sound awesome!!
I wonder, is the BF Shadow Edge armor for HMM or for TakarTomy version?

I would love to have a 3D printer, but it would need to be high quality. I would love to see how your project progresses!

This is for the HMM BF. here is the progress so far: This was just a test. My printer can get 4 times as detailed as this test print. I'm trying to 3D scan the BF now so that I can get more accurate connection points though.

What type of printer are you using? Looks like what a Formlabs Form 2 creates. Sturdy stuff, that. Great shaping!

Probably, just my smaller hands haha. That piece is about 7cm long.

So, do you like the Form 2? I've thought about investing in one, but its a pricey unit. If it can turn out this kind of quality, though, I could be tempted!

has that been worked on at all or is it straight from the printer after cleaning?

That is straight off the printer after washing off the excess resin. .1mm layer resolution. It can go down to .025mm layer thickness. It is a pricey printer, but after a few rounds of prints and seeing their quality the investment was well worth it.

I would love to print both custom Zoid parts and proof of concept and personal miniatures. I obtained a sample from the company; the resin seemed VERY strong compared to other prints I've tried, but the sample's resolution wasn't impressive.

I think a lot of it depends on the orientation that you print the part. There are tricks to "hide" layering. The sample parts up until recent;y were all printed using a form 1 or form 1+ which use a larger diameter laser point. The Form 2 uses a smaller diameter laser so the feature resolution is 20-30% higher than that of its predecessors.
As far as tough, this stuff is crazy. I've been using the grey resin and parts 1-2mm thick actually take some effort to snap. I have some of their new "tough" resin. I have no idea what it's going to be like but one I get the BSFE armor complete I'll probably print the final revision in the tough resin.
