Well actually, it's more like Zoids the One Blox: Got a new camera and want to test the macro. .
Anyhoo, these little guys are fairly common on the net. They cost 300 yen each, and there are six altogether (5 regular and one secret). Luckily, it's not to hard to find a full set for around $25 USD ($4 - $5 each). They are produced by Yujin (of SRDX fame), and are pre cut & painted.
The plastic is some kind of tough rubbery stuff, so they're really durable.
Just as a note aside, there is another Zoids OB (One Blox) set available. They are the same figures, but the colour schemes are different.
Anyways, on to buisness. Here are the first two, Red Horn and Dark Spiner:
..And here's Blade Liger BI & Liger Zero Phoenix:
And lastly, Liger Zero (the secret fig) and Shieldy MK II:
The actual contruction of the OB is quite simple, since as the name indicates we are pretty much limited to 6 basic parts. Red Horn and LZ Phoenix deviate from this a bit since the back mounted weapons can swivel a bit in the joints.
Here are two OB broken down into the basic parts. You can see the layout and the paintjob which extends right into the inside parts (uncommon detail for 300 yen things):
Oh yeah, each blox is stamped with 'made in China' on one side. Don't recall seeing it on my regular blox Zoids..
As for actual likeness to the real models, they're surprisingly accurate and cute! Here are a few shots of the OB and their real counterparts:
..Of course, that's not the only appeal. Being blox and all, it's way too tempting to mash a few parts together..
Oh noes it's a mutated Deantler with handpuppets! :3
--------
So overall, I give these a guys a 9/10... but I'm a sucker for cute things. It's worth picking up one or two, if only only to create derranged & adorable zoid monsters.
