Anything by David Morrell (of First Blood/ Rambo fame) but each book stands alone and are different from each other.
The Chtorr series by David Gerrold. They have great characterization, and the depth of the story will blow people away. There are four right now...I've been waiting for the fifth for several years, but I've re-read the whole series many times, and catch new things, or change my thoughts about parts of it every time.
The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is good as well. I think it is done, but you never know. The complete series is 13 books so it does take awhile. A new author I like is Barry Eisler. He wrote a book, Rain Fall, about a hitman which looks to be a promising series. Only one in paperback but I know two more are coming.
I read alot...so I like the topic! ;D

The 'Hex' series (if anyone's heard of it) makes an entertaining read. I also enjoyed the Harry Potter series, but I still think that it isn't worth all the hype it spawned.

I don't really read alot, but the few books I did find enjoyment reading were the Halo series
Halo:Fall of Reach Halo:The Flood Halo:First Strike
All three fit into the game perfectly, and First Strike is actually the prelude to Halo2. Fall of Reach actually helps alot with the story line of The Flood, wich is based on the game but it goes alot more in dept, following Captain Keyes, Yip Yap (a grunt) and his Elite commander, as well as Master Cheif through all the playable missions as well as the time in between when you can play. I can't wait for the next novel, these books really kick ass.
