No,not off of scooby doo. Its a real legend. Its supposed to be a scaly alien that eats goats.I don't think its real though.(I may be in denial though! )Whats kind of funny about the name though is that it translates into something along the lines of goat sucker.

Yeah, because it sucks the blood, it doesn't "eat" them. The legend of El Chupacabra's has been around for about a decade. In Mexico they began finding goats and chickens that were nearly drained of their blood and had bizarre bite marks on their bodies that didn't match any animal that exists on Earth. Personally I think it's a bunch of nonsense, it's just coyote's or something. -Phenotype

i have NOT seen it(im not going to lie a really big lie here)but how can a coyote suck all the blood out,and if its a coyote why have there been attacks as far up as wisconsin? Not all of the animals had their blood drained, many of them were just ripped apart in ways consistant with Coyote attacks. When this whole thing started the authorities had a lot of trouble filtering out the "Chupacabra attacks" from Coyote attacks. They found out that many of the attacks being reported were in fact coyotes. Why would an alien attack goats and chickens? Also, the attacks have pretty much died off, it was only happening a lot for a few years. This leads me to believe the strong possibility of it being a hoax. Another thing, the "sightings" of El Chupacabra vary way too much to be credible. According to people who claim to ahve seen it the creature ranges from 3 to 6 feet, has a wide variety of colors, some say it walks on all fours while other claim it is a bipedal creature, and some even claim it has wings. These descriptions are way too inconsistant. There's a lot of strange things that go on in this world, it doesn't mean it has anything to do with aliens. -Phenotype

Beleaveing in the Goat sucker is like beleaving in Nesse over at lockness. It's just an urban legend..
But like Naomi said.."Where there's smoke there's fire."
So who knows...

Tilly is also condemned to Wisconsin?
Yeah, we have coyotes. There's a skin of one hanging on the wall 4 feet away from me in my Grandpa's basement. We have wolves, too, and black bears.

If it makes you guys feel any better, here in New Zealand there's the urban legend of Sheep Eating Wetas o.o
For those of you who don't know (I'm assuming quite a few as last time someone once brought up a news article tht mentioned wetas and said that the article writer failed to say what a weta was) it's kinda like a giant cockroach. But.... different >_> Seriously, the breed we refer to as Giant Wetas can grow longer than a child's foot. It's seriously a big bug. But urban legend had it that deep in the south of the south island, there were extremely large wetas, who'd hang off the bottom of sheep and suck them dry or something.
EDIT:http://www.fact-index.com/w/we/weta.html

EDIT:http://www.fact-index.com/w/we/weta.html Wetas are huge-ass CRICKETS Skye; although who knows, I'm sure if they ever became monstrous in size, they could prey on larger creatures. Personally, I am not sure as to WHAT the chupacabra is, but if it is a creature unknown to science; I wouldn't be surprised.
