Evil UK comic project idea...

As I said in another topic, I've been wishing I had the skill to translate the UK comic into Japanese, or at least summarize it in Japanese.

See, the person in Japan I've poked about battle story questions has some interest in it, but he can't read it. I figure that's the case with most Japanese fans, and yet you see people paying good money for the models from that universe, so there's interest for it there.

I figure helping get the Japanese fandom into the UK comic would be suitable...revenge? thanks? both?...for how their model universe ate my brain.

Anyone want to help out, or have any ideas for how to go about this? Even simple summaries of the UK comic issues would be a good start...*pokes Rick*

The UK comic was (in hindsight) the biggest Aliens steal ever. Aliens was a big movie at that time and most of us reading weren't old enough to see the movie and know.

The android crew member, the government/company conspiracy to capture a zoid etc.

Some interesting paralels though. The cartoon serious with Van as the hero makes reference to an ancient zoid that was so dangerous it was mythical. The UK story had the coming of the black zoid (an ancient doomsday machine).

The UK story had the humans 'mind melding' with the machines and utilising thier performance. Japan had the Organoids...

Or is it just me. This is my first time posting in this forum so my apologies if i'm pointing out the obvious.

Joke aside, its odd that your Japanese friend can't read the comic. If its in English, some of them can read it, but not speak it well.

Its probably a matter of whether they can understand the whole conversation in the comics, if there's any. Some Japanese I know can speak English well but they have difficulties in understanding certain expressions. As always, there are stuff constantly lost or misunderstood during translation.

I still want to summarize it, either way...English for the US fandom, (likely rather broken if I can't get help, since I suck) Japanese for the Japanese fandom. The UK comic deserves to be shared!

And they have a lot of dialogue...enough that I'd be rather lost if they were in Japanese.

I stand corrected. It's been a while since i owned them. So i went from memory. I found a great link (the baron) to the old mags and i'm re-reading them now.

Yeah, the Japanese fans should get access to it. A shame it never made it to the monthly format.... i hated only getting 6 pages to read each issue.

The baron maybe doesn't have all the UK comics uploaded, but on the other hand, he has on his site all the special comics that were done (the poster with the arrival of the Super 1000, the little story with Zabre and Scavenger...) and most of all, he has the prototype of the first Zoids monthly issue that was supposed to follow Spiderman and Zoids 51, and that was canceled.
