Well, me and ome people have come up with a list of fun little things you can do:
JOUSTING! Both players use a Rev Rapter with a Pile Banker, and they... er... joust.
MONKEY BOXING! Both players use an Iron Kong and go at it, only using melee attacks.
RACING! You pick a fast Zoid and race laps around a pre-established course.
DAVID vs. GOLAITH! Fight a Deathsaurer with a Molga or Sinker! (it's possible!)
Member-Given: (Stompy) GLADIATORS! Using Physical weapons only, fight on top of the Whale King. Loser either CSF's or gets knocked off! Blades and Pile Bunkers are allowed. (VIII only)
...if you can think of any more, feel free to add!
(I would have stuck more on here, but I don't remembr where I stuck my list...)

I like exploring maps in VS III myself. The one where you're inside the fortress at night is amusing. Get a fast zoid with a booster, run across the raised platform in the middle of the stage, boost and jump and tadaa! You're outside the fortress and can't get back in! Of course you can easily escape and get back in if you're a flier but that's no fun. Note the fun mirror wall which left me entertained for about five minutes, you run straight at it, hit it and what the? You're suddenly 180 degrees around! XD

I've spent far too much time playing around with that funky invisible wall. If you go at it at an angle you can actually get your Zoid lodged in mid-air! I've also managed to fall out of that level completely and plummet into the infinite void. What was initially interesting got quite boring!
I also like playing around on the Whale King stage (ZVIII), climbing onto the Whale's tail, etc.
I've also had a few races with my brother before, it actually works quite well. Especially when you're losing and fire a shell or two at the Zoid in front! I think the city levels are the best for races.

I didn't realize you could go that far on the Whale King...
If you're bored and want a challenge, play VS 1. Way harder than the others if you're used to the others.
If you prefer English games, try playing the Republic mission that you and the Desert Liger have to fight a Lightning Saix and Sinkers that all regenerate using a basic Gun Sniper. When I get bored, I like playing the second Imperial mission. Go all Helcat Noir on those Molgas!

I want V III.
Too bad all I own is an English GameCube, and have no way of importing.

You could use play-asia.com. They've got good prices on import Zoids games. Then all you'd need is a freeloader like Action Replay.

Use Action Replay to put over 1000 weapons on a Molga, and fire them all at once.. and watch your game freeze like crazy.

Does the game rely on reading alot, or can you just get into the action instantly? EDIT: I mean, are the menus set up like Battle Legends' menus?

The menus are all English, including weapon and option names that you buy and equip to Zoids. The only Japanese is in story mode, communications between characters and the Zoid names themselves. But of course, where theres a Zoid, theres a picture so its very easy to work out. Oh, the file saving window is in Japanese, but again - easy to work out.
I'd highly recommend Play-Asia. A very friendly, very prompt company that I've had the pleasure of using and working with in the past.

Do they understand that much english, or...? Oo; But in that case, I'll seriously consider ordering it... What would I need to play it and have a save file?

As I said, mostly English. Its easy to navigate the menus, whenever theres a 'yes/no' question (such as do you want to save/overwrite) 'yes' is on the left, 'no' on the right, etc. As for playing the game, you'll need a Freeloader or Action Replay. A Freeloader Disc is a region-changing device that makes your Gamecube multilingual. Pop the Freeloader in the Cube, select the language, remove and stick in your game. Easy. Action Replay is a cheat code disc with a Freeloader built in. As for memory cards, I'd recommend buying a new one to save your Japanese files to. If you stick an English card in a Japanese Cube, it'll reformat it to Japanese. The best bit is, it'll warn you in Japanese so you'll have no idea whats going on! Some people say that you can save different region games on the same card if you use a Freeloader, but I've had mixed 'results'. Official cards all the way! When you buy a Freeloader, make sure its Version 1.06B or later. You'd be hard pushed to find an older version these days, but its good to know. I hope this helps, theres a whole importing guide on my website, here: www.skatefactor.com/stompy/teaserindexbig.htm along with images, codes and FAQs. Go to the 'Intel' section - a cap button at the bottom. I can dig out some videos, if you want. Feel free to PM me too. And Koneko, yeah. Use a raptor, equip a booster set and run and jump at the sloped walls of the whale, clamber up to its back and voila - you can run from the head to the tail and anywhere in between. Iron kong can do it, as can a lucky liger/tiger fox as well as any hybrid running/flying Zoid, although thats not as fun. In fact... New way to Play: GLADIATORS! Using Physical weapons only, fight on top of the Whale King. Loser either CSF's or gets knocked off! Blades and Pile Bunkers are allowed.

Actually, the card that's used for Action Replay is a memory card that you can use for any games, like how I use it for VS I and III. After the game starts loading and the "Now Loading" screen appears, move it from Slot B to Slot A and use it like a normal memory card.
And you'll definitely not want to use ebay for Zoids Gamecube games as they are all ridiculously overpriced. I stupidly got VS III for $72 not including shipping. >_<
