I assume the PC gamers here can explain what a mod is, since I really don't feel like it, but Does anyone know of any? I had an idea for a Zoids-based mod for Battlefield 1942/BF Vietnam, but since I can't model 3D or program, I couldn't do anything with it. A Zoid mod for Half-Life 2 would be awesome, too, if Valve ever *Releases* it.

A Zoid mod for a FPS sounds pretty strange... It's not like Ligers or Genosaurers can strafe or anything like that. >_> Unless of course, every Zoid controls like a vehicle-- then that makes sense. (Imagines running around with Shadow Fox, shooting stuff.)
I have been thinking about creating a TC (total conversion) for Starcraft, but I don't have 3D modelling software, and no artistic skill-- let alone want to try and create this thing. (Read: No experience with mod tools.) The Gundam TC was pretty cool though, so I want to try and recreate it, but with Zoids.
Anyone else have any ideas for game mods?

My Idea for BF was having the Zoids function as the vehicles, actually.

I understood that part too late. -_-;; I've never played Battlefield 1942, but if it's anything like, say C&C Renegade and their vehicles, it should be lots of fun. Perhaps UT2004 would be a better choice to mod, since it's relatively new, and has vehicles ala Halo. Again, you need to find people who know how to mod stuff... or better yet learn it yourself, and waste tons of time in the process.

Yeah, UT2004 or BF Vietnam would be better, since they're newer.

You most also be aware that modding a game is a time consuming process, which usually takes around a year and a half to a full team of 5 or 6 members, I am, of course, talking about games like Half-Life, Half-Life 2 or BattleField 1942. It isn't easy either ...

I wasn't intending for it to be a cakewalk...
But yeah. Making the models as pretty as they are in UT2004 will be pretty difficult. Not to mention reprogramming whole swathes of code to allow this sort of thing. It's a good thing UT2004 comes packaged with mod tools...
There is one small, but pretty significant factor. Zoids are just waaaaaaaay too huge. But making a car-sized Blade Liger is just wrong...

Believe me, I wasn't planning on trying it with this POS of a PC. One of the maps in Battlefield: R2R has really bad lag only if you play as the British; if I play as the Italians, there's less lag. Maybe I should've tried to go to that modding school Cliffy B and the UT team did.......

I think theres a zoid mod in development for HL1 and another one for HL2 (how that works i have no idea). I really can't remember. I saw it off of moddb.com go there and search for zoids i would think. Um, i just looked at the moddb profile for the HL1 zoid mod. It looks very shoddy, I don't think it will ever come out. mods.moddb.com/1483/ heres the link for the HL2 version.
