Zoids Final Assault - help!!

Anyone care to help out the forum's resident senile old git? ;D
I've got to the stage where the enemy Shield Liger is doing a runner and I have to give chase and destroy it. The (Energy Liger?) Zoid has a weapon pod with the number 3 showing, but which key activates that particular weapon? Constantly paggering the sheildy with the standard weapon doesn't do much (surprise, surprise!).

Sorry, that was an error on my part. The EL's only weapon is its laser gattling and I forgot to remove the ammo icons.

AARRRGH!!
I can't seem to stop the shieldy getting away! Any tips please? I've tried blundering through all the obstacles apart from the spikes of course and I've tried jumping over them with the laser constantly firing, but nothing seems work....
