Haven't written anything for a while, so here's a taste of what I'm currently working on:

The sounds of battle rang out across the battlefield, laser fire creating a cacophony of music. A black liger was on the prowl; emerald optics scanning the area, watching, waiting for the right opportunity. And there it was; the black Blade Liger unfolded its blades and took off at a mad dash, letting out a mighty roar as it descended on its prey.
But before it could reach, something came crashing down from the heavens, scattering dust and rock everywhere, knocking the two combatants away.
“What the hell was that?!” cried out the pilot of the black Blade Liger. The enemy pilot was similarly confused, bringing up communications.
“What are you idiots doing? What kind of trick is this?!”
“We’re not doing anything! I have no idea what that was!” The black Blade Liger walked close to the crater, peering in. A scan showed that a black obsidian meteor had impacted. “It’s a rock…”
Dumbfounded, the Blade Liger pilot entered the crater, approaching the meteor. As he grew close, the meteor cracked, hundreds of bright glowing orange eyes peering out.
Screams, unheard by anyone, echoed through the canyon.
