Swept Away : Chapter One : A View
A lanky old man stood in the midst of a large ragged building. It was a wooden building, probably once a grand old house, but now it was falling apart. The wood was rotting and stained black and dark grey, yet you could still see how majestic it used to be. Surely in its day it was one of the nicest places someone could have hoped to own, but long past were its majestic times. The man walked along the empty hallway, pictures strewn on the floor and hanging off the walls, cobwebs and dust caked on so deep that the original floor tile was almost completely obscured.
He kept his steady stride until he reached a doorway at the end of the hall. There was a single, thick beam of light shining from it, flickering like a candle, yet the light was a cold blue. His features became plainly visible once he stepped through that doorway. His face was scarred and wrinkled and his smug expression mad it look worse than it actually was. His clothes were tattered and his cloak hung off of his shoulders loosely. He was balding and what hair he had was white as could be, yet, there was an air of intimidation about the man that was unnerving.
He walked over to a table in the small ratty room, it presumable had belonged to the maid or some hired help in its day, but now it was this mans sanctum. The table was covered with various electronic devices and in the corner, the rusted, torn, and partially dismantled shell of a human sized metal lizard lay lifeless and dark. As the man fumbled with several small things on the table, one of the parts began to light up blue again, showering the room with light. It had the cold look of and eye, and as it dimmed again, the room became pitch black except for the mans low chuckle.

The sun shown brightly in the arid town of Tepllas. The city was pretty average, lots of people lived there and it was a very friendly environment. A girl by the name of Sasha Lilliam ran gleefully down its sandy streets on her way home. She was about to turn seventeen this month , though, she looked very mature for her age. She was tall and had short red hair. Her green eyes shown brightly as the rounded the corner of a house and entered by a back door. She rushed inside and turned on a lite, followed by the television and plopped down on the couch to watch the days battle reports. She was wearing a soft green colored dress with a brown leather jacket and matching heavy leather belt. she was wearing heavy boots and gloves and fiddling with a small notebook as the battle reports scrolled along the bottom of the screen.
" What!" She suddenly burst out. " How in the hell did Ralf loose to a Demantis!" She quickly scribbled some things down on her notebook but was pulled away soon by sharp pain on the back of her head. She turned to see her mother holding a bag of various parts and tools with one hand, the other hand in a raised fist.
" I told you to stop swearing." She said calmly coming to sit down next to her daughter and setting the bag on the floor. She looked to be around the age of 27, but you wouldn't have guessed it. She was young looking for her age, and was dressed in a similar fashion to her daughter, with the exception of wearing a tank-top shirt and cargo pants instead of a dress. She wasn't her biological mother, and they didn't look much alike. She had long straight brown hair, and cool blue eyes, and her face was somewhat sharper than her daughters.
"So, what did I miss?" She said watching the TV intently.
" Ralf lost to a Demantis in a frickin Shield Liger! " She said very annoyed.
" Oh! So that means I won our bet then?" her mother chuckled.
" No!" Sasha said firmly," You bet he would loose fifteen before the season is over, this is only number twelve."
" Theres allot more of the season to come though." Her mother smirked.
Sasha mumbled something under her breath, but no-one could have made it out. " So you got the Limiter?" Sasha finally said smiling.
" I sure did," Her mother smirked," And," She continued while digging something out of the bag," I got this!" She almost giggled when she unfolded a large waxy thing that at first looked like a poster, but soon, it became apparent as a large, stencil of a very detailed emblem. The stencil outlined the skull of some sea creature that presumably had once made zi its home, and it was intertwined with wires and metal plating that made it look even more fearsome.
Sasha sat admiring it with teary eyes for several moments then snatched it all up and stuffed it back down in the bag. She and her mother wordlessly took off for the back yard with the bag and hardly even cared how much noise they had made slamming the door behind them.
The sun shone brightly across there small backyard. The light was glistening on the green grass and chainlink fence that held everything in. But the most noticeable sight, was taking up most of said yard and was as stunningly awe inspiring as it was an incomplete masterpiece. On a slightly raised platform, coated in a beautiful tint of light blue with light grey structure, shone in the sunlight an incomplete Aquazoid. Now, this zoid wasn't the biggest or nearly the baddest zoid out there, but, for this small, middle class family, it was more than they could ever hope for. Sasha clicked a remote and the cockpit popped open, it was a clear orange and when it raised into the sky, it shaded Sasha and her mother in a almost golden glow. Sasha quickly rummaged through the bag and took out a large black box with many wires hanging off and rushed across the yard. Her mother gathered up a few can of white spray paint laying against the side of the house and toted them with the stencil over to the side of the one of the Aquazoid's ballast tanks and tapes it on in several places.
Sasha while sitting in the cockpit was pulling open the console and attaching the black box into place while running system checks and screwing it down. She finally sighed, seeming happy with her work and closed the console back over, sitting back in the chair and activated the voice commands.
" Run, standard system scan." Sasha said clearly.
Several moments went by, with several things lighting up and for one moment Sasha had to reboot the system, but for the most part all checked out. She smiled, very pleased with her self. Afterwords, she got out of the cockpit and slowly climbed down, moving over to her mother who was almost done with the emblem. After all the plaint had been applied, and the paper meticulously pulled down, they stepped back as if to admire there work, the sun in the background framing the view perfectly. It was quite a site, missing a flipper and some of its main weapons, but, it was something they were very proud of, and something that would be sooner, perhaps sooner than they realized, finished.
