when I reviewed the Hound Soldier I mentioned using him in a story. Well, here it is.
(think Battle Story/ CC GF era)
Not long ago, a man was returning to his home for the first time since becoming a pilot, his time-worn Gustav hauling the replacement parts and new zoids needed to guard his village, as his family had always done. The journey was always quiet since most of the route was desert, except for the final stretch which took him around the outer edge of twin mesas.
As he approached the fork in the road, he wondered why his family had always gone around the mesa, when his village was clearly visible through the valley between them. The man stopped his transport at the fork and questioned the guiding map his grandfather had left him. He reMembered riding with his grandfather once as a child, and asking him the same question.
The old man looked in amazement. “No one has told you of the Pirate King? Remarkable. Listen, my grandson, and I shall tell you of Adamassc and his Hound Terror. Before my time, this route was used constantly to transport the wealthy to their homes either on the shore during the winter, or their mountain homes when summer came. Many men tried their luck to attack these nobles, and most had only limited success before their boasting imprisoned them. One man, however, raided this path relentlessly for years, bringing down even the largest of Whale Kings with his band of five zoid raiders. He was known as Adamassc, though he quickly became called the 'Pirate King.'
Adamassc had four allies, all women, and all ex-military officers. Altilia Dressnad was his second in command, she piloted a crimson Zaber Tiger and lead the other three. She was military through and through, so much so that she even continued to wear her uniform. She was bossy, uptight, rude, and quite beautiful. She kept her lavender hair shoulder-length and very neat. No doubt she could have had a gang of her own, but somewhere along the lines Adamassc had earned her loyalty, and she would stay by him for eternity, if he so desired it. Sakura Rozza was second to Altilia in the Imperial army, and operated an orange and blue Rev Raptor, which she used to gut the downed Kings and let her sister, Nissiel and her matching Guysack remove anything of value. The Rozza girls were known as the blood roses before they joined Adamassc, earning the nickname through their vibrant red hair and unnecessarily violent strikes against any and every target of value. They never appeared outside their zoids except in full body armor with ventilators covering most of their faces. A Gustav with unusually dense armor was the transport for the stolen goods, and it was operated by Sounta Jaganshi, Adamassc's lover. She was calm, collected, and probably the most stable Member of the crew. She was young, fairly attractive, though Adamassc saw her as perfect, and fairly visible. Sounta was left alone whenever she entered a town for supplies, mostly because everyone around was terrified of Adamassc's rage should anything befall his precious Sounta. She had long brown hair, normally left loose, and fairly wavy. She had beautiful green eyes and pale skin.
The monster himself piloted a beast called the Hound Terror, a Hound Soldier with a desert paint job and a massive Gatling gun mounted onto its back. Nothing is known about how Adamassc appeared, since he never left the Hound Terror and his crew refused to speak of him. He always struck in the same way, so predicting his attacks should have been simple, unfortunately his very mention terrified anyone who might have helped stop his rampage. Adamassc would wait for a Whale King to pass through the valley, then he'd leap onto the wing of the transport and punch through its armor with his Burning Gatling Spear, before entering the massive zoid and ripping it apart from the inside. After its systems were destroyed and as it plummeted to the valley floor, Adamassc would tear from the other side and bound down the cliff side to safety as his crew swarmed over the crippled ship and looted it. The five zoids always managed to vanish just before the Whale Kings would fully impact the ground.
Year after year, the Pirate King and his crew proved unstoppable. Both the Empire and the Republic grew tired of losing their wealthiest Members' riches to what they considered no more than a bandit gang. A trap was set for Adamassc and his bandits. Rumors spread of a shipment of prototype zoids, as well as the entire wealth of the Royal family, heading through the valley to a safehouse deep in the mountains of Zi.
The largest Whale King ever created started the journey as all before it had done, struggling to pass through the narrow valley. Then, just when it reached the halfway point, the Hound Terror struck, piercing the outer armor with ease. Instead of riches and rare zoids, the Hound Terror was meet with a full-on mortar barrage from Republic Cannon Tortoises and Imperial Cannonry Molgas. The cockpit was nearly blown off by the sudden fire, Adamassc was surely killed instantly, yet the Hound Terror itself continued the battle. The military forces believed they could drop the Pirate King in under a minute. It was thirty minutes into the fight when the Hound Terror escaped from the ship, leaving all of its opponents completely destroyed. The other four were captured and tried, but escaped before punishment. None of them were ever seen again, and the question of how the Hound Terror managed to defeat so many enemies without its pilot still remains.”
The young man awoke from his day dream, checking his map once more. “Pirate King Valley. All these years and they're afraid of a spirit that was killed fifty years ago.” He laughed and started down the valley, determined to prove it was safe to travel. The Howl stopped him, and the golden-eyed dog zoid waiting at the halfway point, staring with single eye, made him decide. “It's better not to go against tradition anyways.” The man spoke softly as he began the long path around the mesas.
