New Enter the Dragon: Chapter 18 New
The day had come. That grim and oh so horrible hour had waned and was there. I looked as I had just been shot as I sat at Zev’s dinner table watching television. “Well, ow about that!” said Zev with an astonished expression. Artemis, Ace, and Vladimir all stopped eating. Ace even dropped his fork, denying his favorite food made especially by Mrs.Zev. “H-how could z-zis happen?” came Vladimir’s startled voice.
“Simple, they found the dig site…” said Ace in a voice I never heard from him before.
Captain and Mrs. Zev seemed bewildered at our comments, so we told our long and drawn out story up until now. “Well, I suppose I should help retrieve the thing.” said Zev. “Can ye manage the home?” he said turning to Mrs.Zev as she cleared the table.
“I think I can…” she responded. “I suppose we should set out at dawn then. I’ll inform the Helic that I’ll be takin a short break.” said Zev. “Remember, this mission is for the good of the Republic-and the good of Zi.”
At about five AM, the five of us awoke and hurried to Zev’s underground hangar. It was small and modest, but was still stocked well. “The mariner twill just slow us down, so I’ll be choosing a different zoid…” echoed the voice of Zev as he pondered and walked off to another section. “That mans always a mystery.”, said Artemis.
“I am ready ven you are!” said Vladimir in his strong Northerner accent as he climbed into the blood red deadborder. We followed him as we got into our zoids. Now all we waited for was Zev. “A captain’s zoid must look it, me buckoes!” came an enthusiastic voice on the com. Out of a section of the hangar strode a regal looking god kaiser colored gold and white. “Nice zoid Zev.” I said to him. He responded with a bragging “Thank you.”and we were up the elevator in our zoids, trotting out into the desert.
As we progressed in our zoids, Zev spoke to us on what we were going to do. We got to know him well, on our journeys and he became somewhat of a father figure to us. “Now, as far as I can tell, the gilvader is useless until it has the core. That guy said e’ sent out people ta get the core. We gotta get the core first at all costs before they do. As a high ranking commander, I know my Helic history, and I have an idea of were the core might be…”
We all were eager to here and begged him to continue.
His face now appeared on our com screens as he began. “As ya know, the gilvader was created fer a single purpose which was to annihilate major Republic cities or bases, and it succeeded in its goal fer the most part. It left a major dent in the Republic that still hasn’t been repaired te this day. They say that if the gilvader hadn’t attacked the Republic, this whole Neo-Zenevas ordeal would already be over with. We lost many vital things thanks to it. Now I know it seems unlikely as the gilvader was about a hundred years ago, but it’s the truth. One fine day, the Old Guylos decided to send the gilvader te destroy the Helic capital. There waiting fer it was the Republic’s grand army consisting of twelve madthunders, two ultrasaurus, and many shield ligers. Ah, what a sight it musta been…Anyway, after a long battle, the gilvader lay defeated. Now keep in mind that it wus by itself. With it, it took eight madthunders, one ultrasaurus, and I gotta tell ye only two shield ligers remained out of hundreds, no joke! The republic took the core from the gilvader and stowed it in some ruins which used te be a base in the old days, which we are goin to. They then dumped the body in some mountains which I presume it stayed until ye all dug it up.”
“Wow, I had no idea it was that powerful.” said Ace with astonishment in his voice. “But anyway, it seems we got company.” he said again. We all looked ahead noticing a modified gustav meant for rescue operations surrounded by liger zeros and one zero X. “By order of the keeper of the gilvader, you are trespassing! Leave at once!” said a voice that sounded all business over the link. “Fun time.” said Ace.
