this is chapter one of the story and the background of my first custome.
Shadow Liger
As we stand there on the top of another hill starring down at yet another city laid to waste I begin to think back to how my quest started and wonder if it will ever end. It had to have been about three years ago that it all started.
As I was returning home from hauling a load of fresh supplies from a neighboring village and, I noticed that smoke was starting to rise off in the distance. It didn’t take me long to realize that the smoke was coming from my village. I detached the trailers from my Gustav and hurried to see what was going on. As I neared the village I began to see the wrecks of burnt out zooids from both the Republic and imperial armies. I didn’t stop for the wrecks but I did turn on my scanners to look for any signs of life from any of the wreckages. As I Crested the last hill to my village I almost lost it. The sight before me was awful yet amazing at the same time. My entire village was gone except for a few out lying buildings that were left burning after the attack. The scene before me looked like a giant ditch had been cut in the ground what my village had once stood. I had heard of such destruction in stories of the Death Saurer but never did I imagine that I would see such devastation let alone see it in my own village.
After a short period of grieving and hysterics I finally managed to pull myself together enough to start searching for survivors. Since most of the village was destroyed I decided to start with the nearest buildings and work my way to the research facility on the other side of town which seemed to have taken less damage than the rest of town. It was my guess that any survivors they would go there for shelter. After several hours of searching without any signs I finally made it to the facility. Even this place even seemed to be deserted. As I made my way inside I noticed that the place had been ransacked. Since the village held no noticeable tactical value I could only assume that something in the facility had to have been the reason for the attack. I made my way through the first floor and found the bodies of a few researchers and a couple of the imperial troops. I was just about to enter the stairway when I heard a clicking sound from behind me and a familiar voice called out for me to raise my hands and slowly turn around. Not wanting to startle her so I complied. As I finished turning my suspicion was confirmed. Standing before was Kara a researcher that had been assigned to the facility about two years ago to look into the rumors that there was a wild zoid in the area. She lowered the gun and proceeded to tell me what she knew about what had happened.
According to Kara about two days after I left on my supply run I combined Republic and Guylos force had moved in and set up a base of operations to protect the town after reports of a Neo-Zenevas force that was moving in a direction that would take them near to the village. Then about two days later she was up in the mountains overlooking the town following a lead on the wild zoid when she heard sounds of a battle coming from the direction of the town. She also remembered seeing a large number of flying zoids go past the mountains as she started to move to a cliff that gave her a view of the town. I asked her how she managed to go unnoticed and she explained that a couple of the researchers had fitted her Research Fox* with an experimental stealth unit that not only gave the standard stealth capabilities but also emitted a special noise dampening field. After hearing this and taking into account the condition of the facility I guessed that the stealth unit must have been what the attackers where looking for. Kara agreed with me.
We decided that we needed to get the Fox to the Republic army where is might be of some use. Kara also pointed out that it would be dangerous for us to get it across enemy lines because neither of our zoids had weapons. My first thought was to go back and check the zoids that I had passed on the way in. That was when Kara said that she saw something that might be useful on her way into town after that battle had moved on. We secured a trailer form the facilities hanger and I followed her to the scene of what had to have been a vicious battle. Lying on the ground were two severely damaged Liger zeros. One of these was a Republic model in the basic white Liger armor whose canopy was torn off and the boosters were trashed beyond all recognition but most of the zoid was still intact. The pilot appeared to have been killed it the attack that destroyed the canopy. The other Liger was an imperial model that was equipped with an X unit. This zoid looks to have taken a lot of damage prior to the battle with the Republic Liger because its body was riddled with bullet holes that could not have been fired from the other Zero. It was clear that the Republic Liger was the one who made the final blow. The Zero X had taken a strike laser claw that appeared to have penetrated the body and hit the zoid core. From the position of the two zoids it looked like the final blows happened simultaneously. We took a few minutes to give the pilot of the Republic Liger a proper burial and to search for the other pilot who was no where to be found. After that we loaded up the two Ligers onto the trailer and took them back to the facility to see it we could further asses the damage and see if we could repair the Republic Liger since it seemed to have taken the least damage.
We spent most of the next two weeks repairing the Liger and rounding up the bodies of the towns folk and the pilots who had lost their lives in the battle so that we could give them a proper burial. During those weeks we managed to restore most of the Ligers systems and armor. We also managed to add the blades and energy charger from the Zero X as they were a few of the usable components left on that Liger. We also managed to salvage an Electro Bite Fang system from one of the totaled command wolves and equip ii on the Liger. We also repainted him jet black using a radar resistant paint that we found in the lab of the facility. When we finished we decided that he would be called the Shadow Liger.
The liger seemed to have accepted me as its pilot but all of its responses seemed to be sluggish. Knowing that it had a wild zoid core and that it develops a bond with its pilot I decided to take it to the site where Kara and I have buried its former pilot so that can know that he was properly lied to rest. By the time the Liger and I had returned from the test run its response times had risen dramatically like it had finally let go of its former pilot. Upon returning Kara met me out side the hanger and told me that she had found a sound dampener like the one in the prototype stealth unit in one of the labs and managed to get it working so we decided that we would add it to the liger as well.
Once we finished that we decided that it was past time that we should leave we loaded up the Liger and the Fox on to the Gustav’s trailer and headed for the Nearest Military base that we could think of which unfortunately happened to be in a similar direction as the attackers went.
hope you all liked it i am working on the next chapter though it maybe a while.
