Not exactly fan fiction, but I think this is the most appropriate place.
Anyways, poor Ray Saurer (and others) have no fluff text. So, I made up my own and a thread on another board reminded me of this. It's also more in the form of a BattleTech Technical Readout, but ah well...
Overview:
During the war with the Neo-Zenevas, the Helic forces found their Godos's inadequate. While they were still capable, many were surplus from the old war and required extensive maintenance.
In an attempt to fix this problem and forge a stronger bond with the Helic Republic, ZOITEC quietly began work on a new Blox Zoid to supplement and eventually replace the Godos as a front line Zoid. Envisioning it as a high tech workhorse capable of taking on anything smaller than a Command Wolf, this attitude almost killed the project.
Capabilities:
At the heart of the Ray Saurer was a new experimental engine that augmented the capabilities of the Zoid Core. Unfortunately, it proved to be very unreliable. The first prototypes didn't even have armor around the chest as technicians would have to access the engine almost daily. An interested side effect of this is that when the engine is operating, the Zoid's entire chest would glow a bright red from the engine.
Additional advances were found it the Ray Saurers weapons. Quad rapid fire cannons provided the main armament. Unfortunately, the complicated ammo feed mechanism caused the guns to frequently jam. Rounding out the Ray Saurer's armaments were more reliable weapons, including two medium beam cannons on the arms, a small impact cannon on the lower chest, and a large beam cannon in the tail.
The engine problem was eventually finished (although the quad cannons still proved unreliable), but not until the war was over. By that time, the Republic was demobilizing it's military and had no interest in a front line Zoid. Fortunately, the advent of organized Zoid battles saved the Ray Saurer.
Deployment:
The Ray Saurer has been seen among many teams, although it's high price tag keeps it away from some of the smaller and less successful teams. The ZOITEC corperation also keeps several Zoids for various duties. Unconfirmed reports also make mention of a few sighted among the Republic's military.
Some Ray Saurer's also spot replacements for their Quad Cannons, while other teams intentionally removed armor the Zoids chest to make the Zoid glow.
