“So how did it go?”
“Oh, umm, fine. Well I got let off, just.”
“So what bull did you tell them to get your self out of that almighty hole you dug?”
“The usual, Oh the incident was completely unforeseen, we had no idea that the subject was so powerful, that he cold destroy machinery usually used for restraining zoids. And so on and so forth.” Said the Major in a child like voice, returning to his normal tone he continued.
“Yeah I had that bunch of morons eating out of my hands, the fact that I knew most of the military officials, in fact I sometimes play golf with some of them, also was greatly in my favour.” He said smugly.
“I give you one thing you got balls.”
“Yes thank you doctor. So how is the clean up op coming along?”
“Quite well, we are just about to clear the last quadrant of the cell, who knew one man could make so much mess.”
“That was no man god knows what it was you created but is sure was no man. Did you get the iguans in ok?”
“Yeah, who knew they would make such good lifting equipment.”
“It’s about all they are good for, that and cannon fodder.”
Laughing they both walked into the control room. Spinning round on his chair one of the systems operators informed the pair that there was some thing they should see in the pit. Bewildered they made their way over to the window.
“Its probably just one of the iguan pilots wanting to know how to get out the thing, they aren’t the cleverest of people, hell they would be lost in anything more complicated.”
“Like a molga?” They both laughed as the looked out the window.
“I don’t believe it. I DON’T F*CKING BELIEVE THIS!!”
Outside one of the iguans was holding up the latest piece of debris unearthed-JX.
“Five million gallons of napalm, and he is barely scratched.”
“I think it’s still alive, operational what ever it is still working I think, Sir” called out the iguan pilot. The Major turned round.
“So what do you want to do wit…..where did she go?” the people in the control room looked at him blankly shrugging there shoulders. He returned to his position at the window. He saw the doctor and her team come rushing into the cell in decontamination suits, as the iguana placed the limp object on the floor. The team quickly bundled JX’s body onto a trolley, and rushed out the cell. The major did suit charging for the medical wing.
“Just what do you think you are doing, the experiment is over, out the project had been terminated.”
“We can save him all we have to do is put him back in the chamber, and the nanoids will do the rest.”
“What for Delta team have already completed testing on their cybernoid.”
“Their what?”
“Oh it’s basically what we done, but replacing the human element with a robot. It is rather impressive, scares the crap out of me, but is completely compliant, not like this pain in the ass here.” He said perching himself on the trolley carrying JX.
“I’m sorry, but I’m a doctor, and if I can save one of my patients I will. She snapped nudging him off his perch.
“Look I’m sorry I cancelled last night, but I did have a court appearance to worry about.”
“This is certainly not the time and definitely not the place to discuss that, now if you will excuse me”
“Ok, but I’m sending some guys up to fit some liger restraining clamps to a reinforced bed.”
“Okay, now leave I’ll talk to you later.”
She heaved him into the chamber placed the mask over his face delicately. Stepping back she pressed the repair sequence to engage. The door closed, and suspension fluid flooded in. As it filled a burst of air shot into the liquid, as the millions of nanoids, microscopic insect like robots created for the manipulation of microscopic structures and cellular repair, were injected into the chamber. She told her team to leave as he sat there mesmerised by the sparkles of the nanoids, intercellular welding the rips and tears in JX’s ravaged insides. She thought to herself, I’ll only stay for a few minutes, but a few minutes turned into an hour, an hour turned into the rest of the night.
She awoke woke the next day, lifting her head up to yawn, she caught her reflection in the glass. Removing the piece of paper which ad bonded itself to the side of her face during the night, she stretched. She walked over to the glass and just stood stared at him, as his eyes flickered under his lids as he dreamed.
Behind the glass JX was reliving the previous day’s events. Guilt flooded his system as he remembered the scream of the young officer he unintentionally killed. He had not been his target. No JX was after his tormentor- the major. He awoke with the thoughts of revenge still spinning in his mind, to find the doctor and the major having a blazing argument. From their movement and facial expressions he could tell tempers were running high. Years of having to communicate through antiquated, half dead radios during war times had made him rather skilled in the art of deciphering muffled speech , listening to her emotionally communicating with the Major as he stood there coldly shouting the odds. Deciding this conversation was not for any ones ears but theirs he returned to sleep. He awoke to the door being slammed shut. Looking over towards her desk, he saw her hunched over her desk crying, into her arms. Suddenly an alarm went off on the chamber, his repairs were complete. The mash floated off and the fluid drained away. Looking up, she wiped away her tears and briskly walked over to the chamber to release JX. The capsule opened, and JX clumsily stepped out, like a foal taking its first steps, he walked a few steps and collapsed, he lunged forwards to catch him, but his weight dragged them both down.
“Honestly I haven’t been drinking officer.” He exclaimed in an attempt to lighten the mood. She giggled slightly as the both dragged themselves to their feet.
“How are you feeling?”
“Like I have just been assaulted by a gilvader but apart from that fine.”
“Sit up on the table please so I can check you over, I’ll just get my medics bag.” She requests as she wanders over to her desk.
“Don’t suppose you have some spare pants over there too, because I’m kind of naked over here?”
Walking back she throws him some scrubs.
“Thanks.”
She performs the usual checks, sick out tongue and say ah, cough please, smacking him in the knee to check his reflexes, the last one all she got was clang as the tiny hammer struck his metal knee cap.
“Well every thing seems ok.”
“Good!” said a voice at the door way, they both turned to the door to see the Major, with enough heavily armed troops to over through a quite well sized country, like Germany for example. The troops ran past him surrounding JX. The snapped some kind of immensely strong clamp around his body and another round his legs.
“Just try breaking out of them; we use these to pin down the Royal guards Nexus ligers, when their ego makes it think it can do what it wants. The Royal guard, a bunch of overpaid, under skilled incompetent amateurs, but they do have very strong, dumb but very strong zoids.”
“Give me half an hour to really recover and I’ll rip these of and ram them up orifice that you do most of your talking out of. If that’s what the Royal guard are like then I’m surprised you aren’t their high commander.
“Why you little….” The major strides up to JX, grabbing his baton drawing it upward out of its holster. JX holds his head firm as the major swings the baton off JX’s head, as it impacts it shatters sending shards of metal flying through the air. Frustrated he turns his back to walk away.
“Awww, did baby break his toy, aww does he want his mummy. Look he’s going to cry how adorable.” Jeers JX. As the Major walks to the door getting more enraged with every word JX spoke, the major clenched his fist so hard that his knuckles almost ripped though the skin, his neck muscles so tightly tensed that the baton would shatter of his face too.
“DROP HIM!” barked the Major as he left the room
The troops simultaneously rammed their stun batons into JX’s body shocking him into unconsciousness.
“Oh, umm, fine. Well I got let off, just.”
“So what bull did you tell them to get your self out of that almighty hole you dug?”
