Prologue
Kai strode down the cobblestone alley, whistling a tune that he had enjoyed since he was a child. He exited the alley, onto a large street, where masses of people and rushed to work, and others enjoyed the scenery. The jumble of Zoids trying to make their way through the traffic gave the city its sound, because other than that, the city was silent. Arynine City was just on the outskirts of New Helic City, and had just sprung up after the end of the war, when the Neo Zenevas Empire had fallen. The city had grown quickly, and Kai was one of the firsts of ten thousand families moving in. He was from the Helic side of the war, and had bitter feelings about it. His father, General Meikamora, piloted a Gairyuki, but was killed in a mysterious battle, when a mysterious Zoid massacred a whole entire division. Kai had learned about it when he was 8, and he was 15 now. He continued walking home from school, and as he turned home on the last block before his house, an explosion rung out.
Kai immediately flung around to see what was going on. In the horizon, he could see a huge cloud of smoke and flames, coming out of the harbor, close to the Nuclear Industrial Plant, or NIP as most people called it. Panic ran through Kai’s veins and his heart pulsed wildly as he realized that the smoke was coming from the Naval Industrial Goods, a partner of NIP. Kai’s mom worked at NIG, and Kai shot across the city in seconds of the explosion. People tore down the street, just as Kai did, all going for the same reason; family. Others ran the opposite direction, knowing that NIP was a nuclear goods manufacturer. Kai ran through the streets of Arynine, but as people ran both directions, making it hard for Kai to make his way down the street. Just then, a second cloud rose from NIP, and a devastating blast ripped through the city. Kai was flung into a building 30 feet away and knocked unconscious. That was the last time he saw the city of Arynine…
Kai awoke to find himself inside a hospital, crowded with panicked people. He was laying on a table inside an illuminated room, with other wounded or hurt people also. Kai could feel a sharp pain in his neck and back, and he was laying on something hard. Kai turned over, and picked up the metallic blue stone. On the stone, were the letters SC, inscripted with a silver material. Kai could feel a strange curiosity growing inside him. He looked at the stone carefully, and saw that there was something flashy inside. His curiosity plummeted when he saw who was laying next to him, stone cold and as stiff as a board; his mother! Kai jumped down from the table, and gently picked up his mother’s hand for a pulse. Nothing. He checked her breathing. Nothing. Kai broke out in tears as he accepted her death, and as he was doing so, the strange stone flashed a bright orange, where the silver writing was. It stayed orange, and a bright orange object that looked like an eye appeared. Kai jumped back, and suddenly a the door blew open. A man dressed in red and black with the emblem of a red R on his chest burst through the door, and looked in. He checked to make sure everyone was dead, and as he was doing so, Kai ran around the door. He locked the door behind him, and ran towards the exit. It was locked. Then Kai ran for the fire escape, and as he pushed the stone against the door, everything around him froze. Kai pushed the door open with surprising ease, but he didn’t expect to see a frozen guard standing on the roof. Kai stood still, and realized that the guard was not moving, so he ran. Kai was beginning to see that the stone he found was special. Very special.
