It was his dad's, as far as I know. >> But other than that, I think it was a normal C-Woof.

It was called Zeke, not Caesar - Caesar is the name of his Shield Liger, IIRC. Which might have been previously owned by Moonbay's brother? It's been a while since I read the first book.
I'll grab a couple of pictures tonight, and post them tomorrow if nobody has posted anything else by then. They won't be in colour, because the manga isn't in colour

Yes, Van pilots a Command Wolf for the first couple of books. The Command Wolf's name is Zeke (In fact, Van's organoid was named after this Command Wolf), Caeser is a zoid he uses later on (though I can't tell you about that one, because I dont have those books). Van boasted about Zeke's power compared to a regular Command Wolf, though he doesn't appear to be anything special. He's a basic command wolf (Republican, the off-white/gray ones that appear in CC/GF), with the most basic weapons. Zeke belonged to Van's father, who fought alongside Zeke to protect the village. Zeke supposedly died a long time ago, and stood at his masters grave from then on. When Raven invades the city with his Zaber Fang, showing utter distaste for Van and Zeke among zoids as a whole, the Organoid Zeke tries to battle them. However, after Zeke defeats the Zaber Fang it is revived by Shadow. With Shadow fused, Zeke proves to be little threat to them on his own, so he retreats for the moment. Zeke then fuses to the old Command Wolf, which is brought back to life. From there, Zeke (the Command Wolf) and the Zaber Fang war with eachother (and do quite a bit of damage on the town, too). Eventually, Van brings down the Zaber Fang, using Zeke's most powerful attack, Ragnarok Fang. I don't recall seeing this attack used on any other zoid, and was probably just a fancy electron fang attack (Which is also used at one point, but stopped by the Zaber Fang). Ragnarok seems to draw out all of the zoids core power and channel it into one attack, which has a high risk of killing the zoid. Zeke does indeed die from this attack, but so does the Zaber Fang. So, once again Zeke dies to protect the village. Command Wolf Zeke makes a couple of anime appearences, but only for a couple seconds (One shows the zoid in a bunch of light, seemingly roaring, and the other is just it standing from a 3/4 back view). He has no significant appearences in the anime, but still exists. He is also never piloted by Van in the anime. Here are some scanned pages that include Zeke (and some of the better manga images he has). Please excuse the poor scan quality, I'm sure someone may be able to provide better scans. Possible minor spoilers.
Caesar is a Shield Liger, then a Blade Liger, then gets his core stuck in a Zero. Said Zero runs around naked a lot, then gets a manga-exclusive CAS (Liger Zero Caesar the King). I'll find the pics I took later if you want 'em.

Yeah, and I am pretty sure Caesar was owned by Moonbay's big brother. I think Caesar resisted Van piloting him for a while, because Caesar only obeyed Moonbay's bro.

Moonbay's brother also told Caesar that his next pilot should be somebody who'd cry over a Zoid, which Van did

They're more crappy digital camera photos, but I will find them nonetheless. They're...somewhere.
Maybe I'd be better off retaking them >_>.

Er... Why are Van's Wolf and Raven's Saber Tiger fighting bipedally, Godzilla-style? Sorry for the interruption... *note to self: get these things sometime*

Van had lept in to Electron bite the Saber Tiger, which Raven intercepted flawlessly. The timing of the block made them end up leaning on each other in that bipedal pose.

I like it a lot more than the anime other than the painfully adrupt ending (don't think that was the author's fault, mind, it might have been cut off)...which still manages to give Raven better character resolution. My other favorite bits are Camford and the Heldy and Caesar running around as a nekkid Zero...that and Sieg Ragnarok Fanging the Tiger - or rather, the characterstuff behind it.
The only REALLY bad thing is the US release being in a bunch of really small volumes. I think KAndrw has another translation that goes in 5 sane-sized volumes like the Japanese version...I want that one, 'cause I can't read enough of the Japanese ones yet :p.

I have all 14 issues of the mini anime. What a lot of people don't realize is that Michiro Ueyama is still turning out this story on a fairly regular basis. There is a thread around here somewhere about the new set but they are all in japanese. I wish someone around here was fluent enough to translate them since the story is going in wild directions. Yes, Van used his dad's wolfie to take out the dark sabre and yes, Ceasar went from shield to blade to King Ceasar. Thing is, it looks like there is another change for the liger coming. Heck, check out Zeke with angels wings going against a gargantuan Shadow in the latest addition. homepage3.nifty.com/ueyamam/manga/zex007/zex007-03.html
