Ok, I'm to lazy to read all the post, but the first 2 pages inspired me to post. Zoids used to actually rule Zi. The also had cockpits. Why? The pilots were more or less android slaves to the Zoids. I don't feel like going into more detail, it could take a while. But I will say that the factions started with the Zoids, not with the Zoidians. Sounds strange, but its true.

Sounds strange, but its true. Where's the truth? All I read so far is your own opinion. Do you have something to back up this theory?

That sounds like the storyline for the U.K. comics.
Hmm, looking back at the question, I don't believe it specified which Zoids universe, so yeah, that's right for that universe.

Maybe Ancient Zoidians bred them? Made cores and grew them into zoids in capsules, attached cockpits and well used as machines for help. Later on weps were attached and wars broke out and such. I still think people on Zi made zoids, and wild ones were just ones that weren't suit for battles yet.

As I understand it, Zoids are a mixture of organic matter and machines. The metal comes from Zi's highly metallic oceans. Zoids were once born wild and didn't appear to have any cockpit. You can see a wild liger if you copy and paste this link. If you click on the link, you will get an error message. Please copy and paste: www.geocities.com/tgcsilver/wild-liger.jpg(First person who clicks on the link, gets an error page, and posts a message saying "I can't see it" gets a spanking ) Zoidians used to alter Zoids to be used in their wars, and the arrival of humans on Zi only sped the arms race. I'm guessing it was Zoidians and humans who added the cockpit to Zoids. I can't view that image.

I think the key to making a Zoid "living" is its core like some other people said.
The rest of the Zoid's body is machine with minimal "living" parts.
In the anime, whenever it refers to modifying or creating a new Zoid, it always refers to the core, whether it be making a Genosaurer from a Deathsaurer, or Genosaurer to Genobreaker.
I can't view the Wild Liger either, but I've seen the Wild Dinosaur and my theory is that the Zoidians simply removed the cores from wild Zoids and modified them with a cockpit and weapons to become what they are. (Just look at the Dinosaur pic to see how it resembles the Berserk Fury).
... ... ...
But in the original Zoids Anime, it seemed that Zoid Eve could produce all the Zoid cores that the Ancient Zoidians wanted so...

Well this has probably been stated, but we know that before humanoid life, zoids were already evolving from their cores. First as simple, robotic organisms, then as time progressed, to more advanced life such as fish types, amphibian types, and then early dinosaur types like Gojulas. It is my belief that at the time, the humanoids that existed and the zoids themselves coexisted much in the way of Organoids and Ancient Zoidians. However, as eventual disbutes errupted and fights broke out among the peoples, they and their zoids united as comrades in arms to battle others. Eventually, it became apparent that as one, zoids and humans could be even more successful in battle than as seperate units, so engineers, and the zoids willing experimented and eventually, the zoids were modified with cockpits and projectile weapons connected to their nerve center, the Zoid cores. In this day and age, the practice still occurs, although often, the feeling of comradery is gone and zoids are merely bred and modified in captivity, or snatched from the wild in order to satiate the humanoids' thirst for war. While wild zoids other than Organoids still exist today, they become increasingly rarer as a result of both human domestication for war, and as their ability to adapt to the changing enviornment dwindles, so do their numbers. These are but a few of the wild ones that still exist today, albeit barely. Energy LigerEdit: Energy Liger really stretching page

Those pics are awesome! Do all the Japanese boxes have a Wild Zoid on them? Sadly, no. So far, its just the ones I've shown you and then the Liger Zero Phoenix (but that has the same Wild Liger pick as the Energy Liger box). Of course, I haven't seen the back of Death Raser or Whitz Wolf yet, so there's still the possibility.

Nope, at least Death Razor doesn't, you can see the back of it's box here. page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f23577696Unless the moved them to the sides..., but I doubt that. I don't think Whitz Wolf has them either, but I can't find a picture of the back of it's box to be sure.

Nope, certainly doesn't have any. Well then, I can safely surmise that those Wild Zoid pics were a once in a time gig then; probably only for the duration of the Helic-Neo Zenevas War and whatnot.

No, I don't think so.
Avatar of Gojira also posted a picture of a wild Gojulas Zoid...
Hey, has anyone translated the text next to them before?
I might be able to scan in the wild Gairyuki/Berserk Fury one.
