Here's what I posted previously, before the "purge".
Parts used: Iron Kong (NAR), 1 CP-03, 1 CP-11, 1 CP-10 (cannons only), 1 CP-15
It started out as an Iron Kong SS (Schubaltz Special) from the anime. I had already painted it and everything. Then about a week and a half ago I got a flash of inspiration and the Iron Konquerer is the result of that.
Well, I'm not one for using gloss paints so I had to figure out a way to get a semi-metallic look with flat paints. Couldn't find any flat metallics so I improvised. Taking a half bottle of Testors Flat Steel and half bottle of Testors Flat Red, I mixed 'em up and whaddaya know, it actually worked! Then I did the same with flat black to come up with the gray color. A lot of hand brushing later and voila! I did the details, like the gun barrels on the CP-03, 105mm and vulcan cannons in the straight flat steel. The under-carriage or arm and leg frames whatever you want to call them, are a straight flat gray. I liked the look of the gray under the metallic armor. Makes the armor stand out more IMHO.
Anyway, fitting the modifications was tricky at best. The CP-11 had to be trimmed (cuz the Kong is a NAR and they don't mesh well with the CP-11) and then I had to fit the CP-10 mounts. The CP-10 had to be aligned just right to fit flush againts the CP-11, then a little model cement, stablizer caps to finish off the look and putting the cannons on and it's done.
The CP-03 took a little more work. I trimmed the small cannon that comes with it so it would fit flush on the CP-03 mounting arm then a little more model cement and it's all good.
The rocket box on the back sits where the rotating missles did. I simply took 'em off and trimmed and glued the rocket box on (it's from a CP-15 btw). The CP-15 cannon just sits on one of the pegs on the wrist mounted 105mm cannons.
The stickers are from various extra kits I have laying around, mostly from the NAR Kong and the Jolly Roger is from a Robotech Masterpiece Collection Veritech.
