I only have a few Zoids due to the fact of my low income as a Minor, but lately i've been considering upon taking one of my Molga and Customizing it. generally I think my setup is okay, I have some heavy duty nailclippers (which seem more like bladed Pliars) and a Pensized Sander I picked up in a Yardsale. now about Coloring setup, do you guys usually just lay out all of the pieces you want the same color of on Newspaper and spray it with the Testor's Enamel or do you paint by hand, and is it wise to use a Micron Pen for cheap Ink Washes.

By hand, na-a, only finishing touches, brush paint feels like crap after ur done, even testors. Just sprays are nice and smooth, not sticky. Me being picky bout paint feel and all so. If you use metals/glossies do an undercoat of primer.
I lay em on newspaper and spray, let em dry a lil, take em off, spray next batch and so on.

I would usually lay out the parts by sections oft what colors they are going to be painted then I prime them with spray primer. Then after i dries, I would start spray painting the actual colors on the parts.
For ink washes, I would use a micron pen for small models, but if the model is large it would be better and much faster to do an actual inkwash(info in Tips and tricks section of Pheno's site). If you made a mistake when using a Micron pen, I think its possible to use an eraser to kinda fade away the mistake or you could use a small amount of thinnner.

I've hand painted a good half of my customs. I comes out good if you have an eye for detail. I reccommend taking your time and doing brush strokes in the same direction.
