Nope. The original prototype was black and white. 6 months after it fell into the hands of the Republic, the Empire was finally able to complete a second prototype, which had the gold/red colors. It wasn't launched on the battlefield until the appearance of the Liger Zero X 5 months after that.

(MPZs are now called AZs "Anniversary Zoids" which, with the Death Saurer release, has been changed to "Advanced Zi" since they plan to continue the line.)

Ohhh. the battlestory is so convoluted! but I love it.
As much as I don't quite love the proportions of the MP/AZ zoids (better than HMM) I still might have to shell out the bucks if they do zero X. that will always be my faberit.
