I have a lighning saix that wouldn't walk, just clicks. After experiencing this with multiple old zoids, I narrowed down the problem to what I think is the spring that keeps the gears from binding. I'm guessing after 20+ years, they don't have the compression any longer to support the resistance of the weight of the zoid in locomotion. I figured if I super glued the 2 pieces the spring squeezes together, I could get her walking again. Well I was right, but now she walks... backwards? What could have gone wrong?
I did have to remove the parts that the legs peg on to in order to open the body and get at the gears. I did be sure to ensure that both sides offset pegs were opposite (one up one down) both left and right and front and rear. I didn't modify the wiring and the batteries are not in backwards. Any ideas?

From what little I know about motors, the ability to just reverse is part of their whole thing. And Saix is one of those that was compatible with the remote controller, right? so maybe it could always go in reverse.

Yes, I believe that is correct on the remote compatible kits.
