In my collection I have a couple of the pennplax action starbirds. For a long time I've been contemplating taking 1 apart and using a Storch's guts and possibly legs to make it a walking and flapping zoid. I just bought an extra storch donor in feebay to finally attempt this. What I was wondering has anyone else given this a shot? I haven't even had the starbirds out of the package yet. Thus I've yet to see how they are held together. I'm sure they are aquarium friendly glued together, but unsure about it's legs and wings attachment. Anyway as always.....thoughts, comments and suggestions encouraged!

I may have to move the rest of this, henceforth and on, to the customs thread. Storch has arrived today. Since my only other storch has never been out of package I've never had a chance to side by side compare the 2. Body size is dead on. Fins on the back of neck of the starbird are stubbier. The legs of the starbird are hinged at the knees and ankles and weighted on the bottoms of the webbed feet. These legs are very slightly smaller in all dimensions to storch's but identical except the webbed feet, hindging and no motor attachments instead just attached to each other. This should go well if I can separate this body without damaging it.

Are the ones you have the same size, Bill? The starbird I have from my fish tank is a smaller scale. You can tell it used a Storch mold shrunk down with the Gojulas cannon and a few custom additions, but the actual size is about 2/3rds a real Storch.

You can tell it used a Storch mold shrunk down with the Gojulas cannon and a few custom additions, but the actual size is about 2/3rds a real Storch. Yes actually very close except on legs. What I did find. That gojulas cannon actually has a square connector underside instead of the hole being round it's square and larger. Here's some comparison shots. As you can see body is darn near dead on. 1st pic side by side. Second on top of the pennplax. Then 3rd is leg comparison. I moved this over to works in progress. I am still having glue troubles. I was going to try that simple green but it will strip the uv reactive orange paint. I suppose I can repaint the that. Sadly, my window has a small crack in this one. I left my better of the two mip. I chose it because of that crack actually. Why ruin a good one. There's going to be hacking on this. The tail guns are a single piece holding things together. The gojulas gun sits on top of another piece that holds the top together. This is sitting my my projects pile. I've been side tracked by my current desires with Twotoys making my 2 gungyrados dreams real.

That's pretty cool! I remember these guys popping up in the ZP boards on occasion.
