This is a custom I did several years ago which I was sharing on some Facebook Zoids groups recently, but I don't think I ever posted here. Obviously it's NJR Dark Spiner, completely repainted in classic Zenebas/Red Zoid colours. One of my favourite ever Zoid designs, released with unfortunately one of the worst colour schemes of all time IMO, hence the reason I felt compelled to improve it. I like to imagine this as a real limited edition Zoid, which I call Dark Spiner ZS (Zenebas special), or nicknamed "Scarlet Spiner". Of course I chose the colours because I'm nostalgic for the old-school series, but I feel it could fit well into the NJR Battle Story as well. Canonically Dark Spiners were used by the Eisen Dragoons, an elite Guylos unit who were later revealed as Neo-Zenebas loyalists. I see this as the personal Zoid of some Ace pilot wanting to honour their Zenebas heritage. Hope you like it! The main paint colour by the way is Humbrol #73, Matt Wine Red, with a Satin varnish coat on top. I think it has a good match for the classic red, as shown next to Redhorn and OJR Sabre Tiger for the colour comparison.

Would love to see this thing, but your links are doing something funky on mobile. Does the pictures work for other people?

They were acting strange for me as well. I've tried again with a different image host, see if it works for you now.

Looks fantastic! I disagree that the original colors were the worst ever, but he sure does look great In red as well

Fantastic paint job. I do agree that the original colors are one of the worst for that series.

Spot on with the color! Man, DS looks really good as a classic Zenebas Zoid! Very well done.

Thanks all! You may notice I also added a set of spare guns from a Redhorn/Sabre Tiger or similar, to complete the look. Conveniently it has enough hardpoints to carry them.

Adding classic weapons really adds to that classic flavor. Nostalgic guns? Sure thing!

Thanks Maethius! By the way, being a huge admirer of your customs work since seeing it on Zoidspoison years ago, I should add that your kind words mean a lot!

Thank you! I miss doing customs like I used to... and the contests... but I love seeing custom works! Yours inspires me to return to the shop, too!

Looks great on its own and with the others! I guess I was in the minority that liked the original Dark Spiner colors then.

I mean, there was something about the original, but it was definitely weird. Teal and dark blue would have been better, or green and purple, or something less saturated...

I always figured, shouldn't a Zoid with "Dark" in its name actually be, you know... Dark?
