Community, I'm really at a crossroads, here. I have been given a gift card to purchase a Zoid for a personal custom. (Yes, as in building one for myself!) But I am having a heck of a time deciding what to build! I want to use one of the new Zoids Wild kits as the base, but what to DO is bouncing around between a selection of ideas I am really pumped about. In the end, I can really only afford ONE of the new kits, so, to help my indecision along, I am posting a poll to see what you all might like to see!
Thanks for your input, folks! I'll keep finishing up my current customs list (#11 is almost completed, and I have three quick builds as a break before I get back to mad carvings) and then see where things go from there!

Ahh, what an exciting question! I had a similar tough decision with my own ZW custom that I've been posting progress of in the other thread. On the one hand, I considered converting the Gil Raptor into basically an NJR style Zoid, which would pretty much be a Geno Saurer/Breaker using a different base. I think this is similar to your option one. On the other hand, I thought of grafting many large weapons onto it, for a "heavy gunner" type of look (maybe a subconscious response to their seemingly intentional lack of weapons). In the end, I ended up deciding to make as few design changes as possible in order to let the model's strengths shine through on their own.
But, sounds like you have a bunch of other ideas already. I'd really like seeing any of the choices you posted-- they all sound great which I realize is unhelpful. I'm partial to the first four due to dinosaur bias, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with the ankylosaur conversion. Sounds the most original! But also the most work haha. Good luck!

I would love to see what you going to do with the Stegosage. It's criminal how the stegosaur types are portrayed as fodder. Hope you do it justice.

I've thought of a few concepts with the Stego... one idea being quite a bit more tactical than the others, but I think it would be really original, and make tactical sense. If I went with making a pure Stego, there are three directions I could see taking it:
1) Brutal close-in platform; perhaps suited for heavily forested or urban environments (75% infighting mods, 25% ranged weapons)
2) Artillery/tactical mod (75% heavy weapons, 25% defensive/local area weapons)
3) Dark Zoid mod (think Deadborder/Dark Horn overgunned with my Dark paint scheme)
Building the Stego as an ankylo could carry some similar mods, but I have been working out a Gunbluster mod that I could, perhaps, transpose to the Stegosage. I am honestly amazed that Ankylosaurus was so overlooked in the Zoids line since 1982 with only two examples.

Never realized that before, but yeah they really have neglected that whole category of armored dinos. Under your expertise I think any of those options would turn out great!

Looks like a new Dark Horn concept is catching on!
I've always had a love of akylos... it was the reason I made Paladin in the first place! While Stegosage would only be about half the size, he would make a great forward assault platform. I also have been playing with an ankylosaurus bridgelayer idea for years now; the design was intended for a spare Gunbluster I have. I don't know if it would translate well to 'Sage, but it would be a fascinating variant.
I am about half way through painting my current work and I have three very small customs to build after, so the poll will remain active until those are done. Its interesting to see how the community leans!
