This is a kit I have been waiting on... since the 1980's. When Gunbluster came out I felt that the design really did not do justice to the animal that inspired it. This looks like a great kit, but it also sounds like it will be difficult to pick one up.

This looks like a great kit, but it also sounds like it will be difficult to pick one up. I really wonder what's going on. HLJ has a whole number of other ZW kits, going all the way back to the Gilraptor, still listed as in stock, but the Ankyrox is completely gone from HLJ, Amiami and the Amazon scalpers. Hopefully they'll reissue everything when phase 2 starts. Given the apparent success of the line, I'd be more than a little surprised if they'd let them become unavailable this quickly.

...and here's the Pachycedos. I wasn't terribly excited about this one because it's basically a retooled Gilraptor, but as it turns out, it's actually pretty cool.

It isn't a bad looking model after all. Funny how they can essentially take one model and re-armor it to come up with another kit. Not a bad use of parts, actually.

I think the different neck and head shape is really what does it - it changes the Zoid's entire posture. I'm really not opposed to "new" Zoids that are basically retooled versions of older designs (ZRK/Mammoth, Gordos, end of discussion), but it needs to be done like this.

I agree. I think re-tooling gets a bad rap, but we do it with real military vehicles all the time (every single modern fighter, every single modern tank, every single modern ship!) The most extreme version of this that I can recall is actually Bigasauru (ZRK) and Gojulas. As far as Zoids Wild, I think it is done well. I have the Stego and the Trike, which have almost identical legs, but they really look entirely different unless you are really looking for the similarities.

Thanks for your funny reviews, ze German jokes are nice I would not have guessed that you were actually German (I knew, but you wouldn't have guessed because your American accent is flawless Is there a specific reason why you open the bags with a knife (probably because we were used to cutting everything with the non ZW kits?). I say this because I once cut a bag and just had a new knife and cut my finger (and the first thought was not oh no I cut myself and now bleeding, but rather oh no now I have to build whilst having a bandaid on (which is irritating whilst building haha)

I'm actually Swiss, but thanks ;-)
I just cut the bags with a knife because it's easier and works more reliably than trying to rip them open with my bare hands. If I'm not filming myself, I just open them any way that works, but if I'm making a video, I kinda have to know I'm not going to end up with three minutes of footage of me fumbling with plastic bags.

Oops sorry and to think I was in Switserland in March. And found out that Swiss German is more difficult than German Oh yeah that makes sense as opposed to losing time to find the "child-friendly-bag-opening-lines"

And here's the Cannon Bull. I'll get to the Wild Liger soon, but this thing interested me far more for what should be obvious reasons, and it turned out to be pretty much all around awesome.

This is probably the first of the new line of Zoids that actually got my attention. I still want to get rid of all the expansion posts which harken back to the days of Blox... in that it was a feature I really disliked about that line (pegs all over can NOT be made to look good). Thanks for the overview on this kit... I may actually pick this one up!

Welp, and here's the Beast Liger. This one is, let's say, not super exciting.

The Beast may not be an exciting kit, but I look at it almost like the original release should have been. As a CAS I see it as an improvement.

I like the original Wild Liger a bit more, but not a bad design overall.
By the way DarthEscargot, while browsing HLJ I was surprised to see they apparently have Ankyrox back in stock? Very mysterious goings-on with their ZW supply. Frustrating though to have had botched orders, buy them somewhere else (at higher price), only to see them finally come in stock months later.

Well, either way, I just ordered another one. What's annoying is that they just don't seem to get correct info from some suppliers. Bandai cycles kits in and out of production all the time, afaik - when I ordered the MG Freedom 2.0, it took weeks, if not months, until I got one, but it was always listed as backordered. And with this one, they label it discontinued and scrap the listing, then create a new entry when it's in production again? Doesn't make any sense. But thanks for the heads up, I check HLJ all the time so I can get my preorders in immediately, and I still somehow missed this one being back in stock.
