Treating Bio Zoid Armor?

So I finally got my hands on a Bio Tyranno, Bit I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about the rubberized armor of Bio Zoids crumbling or turning to goo or other unfortunate demises. But I’ve also heard of something people do to treat the rubber to prevent that, but I can’t find details on how to do it or what materials I need. Anyone know?
