Hmm.."Hey kids, can you say filler episode? Filler episode."
Watched the third episode (and even though I can't hear what they said, you can kind of fill in what's going on and it's not really exciting yet story wise).. They are trying real hard not to show Pachy and Anky, Grachio was absent. And it is getting a bit old, the Raptor / Wild Blast schtick.. Hoping for something new on the next episode..
Meanwhile all those nice pictures of the new models will tide me over (but still wonder why they chose to make Liger DX as number 15 (they could have done it as ZW01 special and make Fang 15)..

New kits first impressions
Raptor: Underwhelming design. It doesn't look as good as Rev Raptor. In general, I am not a fan of the less armored kits in this line.
Knuckle Kong: Pass. So many of these new kits have the reverse side of their parts exposed from many angles (like Scorpear). They just don't look good. KK's arms have this issue.
Tricera: Less of a maybe and more of a no. Again, I need to see a build review on release. His wild blast is unappealing.
Death Rex: Liking the design, disliking the proportions. The Wild blast looks absurdly impractical but is visually appealing. However, I dont need to own one. Too big.
Gusok: It looks EXACTLY like the prototype Gravide Valga from the Rebirth line. I might have to pick this one up.
Stegosage: It's more appealing than I first thought. Though, given his wild blast, I wish the actual design was a combination of a stegosaur and an anklyosaur. I still dont like the head all that much. Maybe it will grow on me.
Wild Liger DX: Pass. What a shameless way to sell a toy.
Hunter Wolf: seems cool, but I am not sold on it yet.
Catalga: The molga inspired Catalga looks like a molga upgrade. The colors are like the AA Molga, and it is even a transport Zoid like the Carrier Molga, two of my favorite HMM kits. I am absolutely buying this one.

The majority of opinions that I've heard is "It's better than I thought it'd be!" But everyone can speak for themselves.
Personally, the series might not appeal to people that just can't get into a kiddy version of Zoids. It does have pretty good animation, but also reuses a lot of it (typical of animes like this, honestly.) I genuinely enjoy how alive the Zoids are, and that the Wild Liger's personality wasn't just rinsed away after 1 episode like it easily could have been. On episode 3 the Liger is still demanding some proper respect. I'm excited each week to see what the Wild Liger gets up to, and for all the reused animation, you can so far always count on there being plenty of new animation, too.
The manga is an entirely different story, almost. Chapter 3 was very much corocoro toilet humor, but I still love the art style of the Zoids. Hate it for the characters.
The kits are really nice. I like the detail and they're a lot simpler. That falls under personal preference. Me, I don't have time to build many kits anymore, so I'm in love with this. They look good, they're a decent size, and they walk in a straight line~
Overall, Zoids Wild is everything that I've been wanting in a Zoids series for forever. Almost. I'm personally pro-Adult Pilots, but I understand this is primarily a kids franchise. It's taking all the risks that TT was too afraid to take with their other lines. My heart leaps through my chest with the sheer volume of brand new, never before seen Zoids that are coming out in relation to the series. While a lot of them reuse the same bases, I feel like the universal 'body style' makes it very unnoticeable. I can legit see most of these as their own Zoids, instead of looking at the Geno Breaker and thinking (... It's a Genosaurer with a crab on its back.) Not that I don't love the genobreaker, justsayin.

I had my reservations when it was first revealed, but I'm loving it so far. A lot of the kits genuinely look neat and I'm ecstatic to finally get a pachycephalosaurid, a proper Ankylo, and updated Stego and Trike Zoids.
The anime thus far has definitely been more aimed at kids, but that's kinda what Zoids needed to be revitalized: newer fans. All the other lines were created more for the older fans, and that brought in no new blood. I'm perfectly happy with Wild as a vessel to share this thing we all love with a new generation of Zoiders, because that's ultimately who it's for. Doesn't change the fact that I'm also having fun with it.
So I echo Han's sentiments

Opinion of the kits; hit and miss. Some designs are quite cool, others leave me flat. The armored natural Zoid thing is okay by me; they tried something new and for the most part is seems effective. The scale still bugs me... it will take a LOT of customizing work to convert this many kits!
Opinion of the show; forced my way through two episodes. Pass.

Wait a minute, if everyone rides on zoids' backs in this, how are they going to have a roly-poly? even if the kid rides under its armor he's still going to be going around and around since there wouldnt be room for a rotating cockpit (like we just assumed valga had even if the kit didn't show it)

Finally finished the subs for episode 3: Takara Tomy version / TV rip version / Coro Coro versionThis episode was kind of a mixed bag for me. I like how they took the time to give Arashi some training, but I wish they'd shown more progression than just jumping from "poor rider" to "good rider". The character animation took a dive, but there's lots of pretty Zoid action. The extra lore is nice, although it's still leaving a lot of open questions. And the Raptor battles are getting rather repetitive, but I really liked Bacon's farewell scene (especially compared to the manga version). I look forward to seeing Drake in action soon!
