The Z from the countdown and the Beyblade Z seems to differ signifigantly. I think this might just be a coincidence.

Out of curiosity I thought I might try searching ベイブレード (beyblade ) in Twitter to get an insight into that fandom hell to see if they are equally excited about the countdown as the zoids fans. But nope, I went through the past couple of days worth of posts and couldn't even find a mention of it at all. The Magazine article was given a few mentions of course but not the countdown. Yet type ゾイド (Zoids) into the search and like every 3rd recent post is about the countdown. I'm beginning to think the Japanese may know something we haven't quite picked up on.

The Z does greatly resemble the Zoids logo, but it doesn't 100% match either. That said, I hadn't noticed the Z for Beyblade was tagged with the katakana "Zetsu." If it were 100% Z, I'd think they'd just go with a Z sounding equivalent? Interesting to hear that there's no hype for it over there. I am most certainly hoping for Zoids. If it is, they could really use that boost of being put on the landing page for so long.
Moving to Japan will certainly make this more interesting! Especially if it is a new product line.
Now just 13 more days to go~

Yeah the Japanese beyblade tag is absolutely silent in regards to the countdown. They haven’t acknowledged it at all.
Considering this year marks the 35th anniversary of Zoids as a Tomy brand and that interesting scan that might allude to a new Zoid, it’s fitting the countdown is Zoids related.
Could be something big, or nothing to be hyped about. The situation is certainly interesting to say the least.

Looks like I got back from my trip just in time! The Beyblade pic is advertising "Chouzetsu", a new series of Beyblade Burst that was announced about a week ago. The Figsoku pic, meanwhile, is very likely to indicate a new Zoids toy line. Despite Maethius's comment, hobby magazines very rarely advertise customs a month in advance (the makers are usually rushing to get their customs finished before the deadline), and the text is very much an advertising spiel rather than custom fluff text: As far as I know, there's been no confirmation that it's a Zoid and not some other brand (Figsoku doesn't count because it's not an "official" source of info, it just reposts messageboard discussions), but the combination of "mecha" and "beast" keywords is a good sign, and the ankle cap is very Zoidy-looking. Hopefully we'll at least get confirmation of the brand once the Coro Coro issue is officially released tomorrow. So, what about the countdown? I seem to remember Takara Tomy putting up a similar countdown a year or two ago that turned out to be for Beyblade, and Coro Coro has teased a new project nicknamed "Code Z" (set to start in the "May 2018" issue, released mid-April) which looks very Beyblade. On the other hand, the news about Chouzetsu has broken already, and the "Z" from the countdown doesn't have a slash across the middle like the Chouzetsu and Code Z ones, so there's still a decent chance of something Zoids-related. Cautiously hopeful!

For confirmation, I was going off of the giant Z over it looking pretty much exactly like the Zoids logo Z. Split in half and everything. But most of it is cropped out, so I suppose it's not concrete. Thanks for the info!

Back just in time indeed Falcarius! I thought you might be still there amongst it all. Though if you had stayed in Japan until Sunday you could have gone to Wonderfest! Anyway thanks for the clear interpretation of the words and new info. With all the zoids hype surrounding the countdown on twitter it's hard not to get excited but I'll try to keep calm. lol

I will go with the ZOIDS, hahaha

I'll be happy if all this means is another Masterpiece Zoid, tbqh. I'm really not convinced that this looks like the Zoids logo at all, but the Japanese really do love their anniversaries, so who knows.

The logo I'm referring to is the big white Z over the teaser image of the Zoid itself, not the countdown. The countdown could be anything, and doesn't match anything exactly. Even Takaratomy teased that it could be Zoids, Gundam Z, and like 2-3 other things. For the teaser, it could just be a reused font. Which could be anything by itself. But if it's a font that looks like the Zoids logo similar to one they've used before, from the same magazine that announced Masterpiece Zoids, over a critter that looks like a Zoid, using the terms Mecha Beast, with implied laser fang equipment, on the Zoids 35th anniversary, and it turns out to be another series that'd be one hell of a coincidence. One that I just don't think is all that likely. I could still be proven wrong of course, but I'd be surprised.

It didn't take long at all to get a better look. Here's a page that has the full spread. The Z is looking much more like the Beyblade Code Z one with the slash through it, and the kana says "Project Z" and "zet." I don't know anything about beyblade though, so I can't give much insight. Any beyblade fans around that can link the vehicle to the series, or something? Still, it doesn't match anything Beyblade design wise. Unless they're starting model kits? And I don't see anyone in the Beyblade fandom commenting on the teaser, even though tons of people have the issue of Corocoro.

That paw looks VERY zoidy, though. Those are definitely stylized Zoid caps on the sides.
