HISTORYAlong with the proposal of the Gil Kaiserin, the Dynasty intended to create a new team to implement a new combat strategy. The Gil Kaiserin and Lucht Vuur were well into development and would constitute strong aerial and ground support assets, but another engineering branch was tasked with the creation of a new front line Zoid that could take the ground. A terrestrial version of the Decalto Dragon was in work when orders came down from on high that another asset, a marine support Zoid, was also in the bidding. The Decalto team quickly adapted their design and realized they had the makings of a never-before-seen platform; an amphibious assault dragon. The project was named Celestis Tenebris, “Dark Typhoon”… an ocean storm that would wreak terrible destruction inland. The design was finalized for a Zoid that would be as capable a naval vessel as a battlefield asset. The Celestis Tenebris is my sixth commission custom. The most ambiguous concept yet, neither the client or myself really had any notion of what this beast would look like in the end. In fact, cutting and building was already well underway when the decision was made to switch from an articulated Decalto Dragon then to a terrestrial dragon, then a sea dragon (because it fit the lore of my iteration of the Guylos Dynasty), and finally it took the form of an amphibious dragon. Even when the body was more than half completed I had only vague concepts for weapons and features. What follows is my most organically produced custom to date. I hope you enjoy it. DPZ-305 Build PageAs always, I welcome your feedback, suggestions, and opinions. Thank you very much for hanging with me in these Zoids-sparse days! ]\/[aethius

Gorgeous! It's rare I see a custom zoid and really want to go pilot it and see what it can do. Thems would be some fantastic ocean voyages

Oh that is beautiful. There are not enough water zoids, I particularly love the tailfin and the claws. Very cool! Digging the build page too, I love how it can either be in stand on 4 legs, 2 legs or swim mode pose. So cute, (and by cute I mean menacing) Well done again!

What a beast! This is easily my favorite Maethius custom in terms of aesthetic.

Gojulas Omega: That's a pretty great sea dragon! It's like a lionfish. If this one evolved I think I would make it longer and more tapered, especially in the torso. Originally it was going to have cloth webbing between the rear toes, but we didn't want to risk the paint job in the final stages. Snowflake: I would love to see this sucker in operation! I see it as propelling like a crocodile for the most part, but able to dart with frightening speed to tear through a Whale King. It would jet into the air like a dolphin, smashing down onto a rocky shore, and then instantly opening up with withering artillery fire before lurching inland... oh, yeah! Vig: Thanks! I really love how it became a 3-mode machine. My client originally wanted an articulated Decalto, then a terrestrial dragon, and finally he thought my Guylos forces could use a new frontline aquatic unit. I really think it evolved nicely! (cute?!) Leon35: Thank you, sir! It's one of mine, too... we were both kind of shocked as the head drew together and I mounted it on that giant barbed hook of a body!
