NEED! Always happy to see more Aggressive zoids, it's my favourite line so far.
Oh the poses that could be done with those sturdy manoeuvrable pincers, Glad I didn't buy the original koto version now or I would have ended up with three of the things. One thing though I must comment on, Why do Kotobukiya Like to give Geno Breaker lavender purple caps.

Yeah, the lavender is a little offputting. I'm tempted to get this one, but it'll depend entirely on how the year goes. Still got some other things on my wishlist. Also a little surprised that its price tag is so much higher, and a little sad that they're not continuing with Genesis, but that was a bit expected.
One thing I can say is that for the most part I love how ZA proportions things. The only Breaker I have is the Koto one, and it had room for improvement in the design nevermind that it's sitting in pieces. This Breaker looks nice and sturdy, and aesthetically, I love the proportions of it.

While I do really like my ZA Hayate Liger, I am still not sure I want another ZA. Hayate's possibility is limited by its own striking design.
With that said, it's a Geno Breaker action figure that I can play with when no one is looking....

...where the heck did this come from? I don't think they telegraphed this at all beyond those initial silhouettes... never had it at any shows...

I think they're just going to town with the theme of showing 3D renders. Before, it was more common for them to wait for at least initial 3D prints, etc. Now they can just post the 3D images before having a physical product to display yet.

Are they seriously trying to charge almost $90 for an action figure??? The Murasame was pricey enough! I can literally buy an HMM Geno Breaker for almost the same price off of Amazon (with Prime's FREE 2 day shipping) right now. Hopefully that's not the final price.

I've said this before, recently, but being shocked by the price just means you're not typically a buyer of collector-aimed japanese action figures: ~$40 is the lower end of the price range, and they can go as high as several hundred dollars (look at this thing's list price) for something particularly high end. A model kit can be cheaper BECAUSE it's a kit. They're not paying factory workers to assemble it. And that's BEFORE I even get on the topic of anime statues...

I think people are looking at Zoids as a reference point (as, on a Zoids forum, they probably should.) The Breaker isn't "super expensive for any anime figure ever," which isn't a realistic comparison in the first place, but it's almost 3000 yen more expensive than any other figure in the line. I think that probably stands out to people.
Not that there aren't relevant comparisons out there; you're right, it's not super expensive for figures in general, but ... the comparison? Metal Gear guy is several times the size in height, super high detailed with an advanced paint scheme involved. That's like saying a remote control car is expensive compared to a hotwheel at walmart. Well ... yeah. Yeah it is. I mean, it's not technically incorrect, but still.
Personally I'll be interested to see where this price point is coming from. The 3D renders make it look quite a bit bigger than the Blade Liger. If it is, that'd certainly make up for a decent price difference. It'd also be cool to see a rex given a better size differential compared to the cats. The Breaker will also have more points of articulation than the Ligers, if they articulate all of its equipment which probably means more had to go into the design stage. There are around 27 points of articulation for Ligers, probably around 36-60 for Breaker.
That being said, so many people have issues with HMM Breaker's falling apart on sight that you'd probably get more money's worth out of the ZA. Shot They don't tend to change the price, though. You'll probably see it for around $70-$75 on AmiAmi, but that's about as cheap as it'll go.

Haha, I wasn't really meaning it as a super-direct comparison. It was an intentional "sometimes things get super obscene, price-wise". The best DIRECT comparison is probably Bandai's Robot Spirits line. this guy for example is a fairly average item in that line, and is nearly the same price as the ligers. He's also only slightly shorter than the SHF Freddie Mercury (who is just shy of 6") I posted a comparison of elsewhere on the forum. These guys also use up a good deal of their pricepoint on how much of the color is molded plastic rather than paint apps. The silver blades, yellow on the feet, some black details picked out, the area around the eyes, some of murasame's yellow mane parts, and hayate's golden mane parts.

Yeah, you're right Xhen, I don't buy anime figures or anything like that lol. Zoids is the only import I buy. Hanyoutai pointed out more where I'm coming from. The Geno Breaker is a lot more expensive than the other ones so far. But points out things that I didn't consider since I was too busy being upset about the price: that it could be larger with more articulation than the kitties we've gotten so far. But for me personally, I think the HMM version is the better deal since I get a lot of enjoyment from building the kit as well as posing and such. With a good amount of glue in the right spots I have very little issue with my HMM Psycho Saurer falling to pieces. Though I guess the story's a bit different with the booster pack, I dunno, don't have an HMM Breaker.
*sighs* What happened to the days where I could just waltz into Toys R Us and pick up like 5 kits for 70 bucks, slap 'em together and watch them flail on the floor? xD I think... maybe I just can't afford Zoids anymore. I barely get one a year now. Last was the ZA Murasame last year, and it's been so long before that I can't remember what the last actual kit I ordered was...

I had multiple family members working at KB Toys, I could get SO MANY zoids for practically pocket change. Got a Gojulas Giga for $15, iirc. Those were the days...
I'm skipping ZA 'Breaker myself, maybe will pick up a 'Saurer if it happens instead (I don't like red Genos, I find) or a 'Breaker Jet, or maybe if it goes on sale...
The Geno I'd want will never happen. My favorite was always the museum bone-white Geno.

The Ligers definitely have a nice price point. Its been a joy to collect them, and I'm hoping Mugen will fit on the computer tower with the others. Jet or Bone would be amazing. I doubt it'd happen but I'd love to see them use this line as a chance to release variations not already seen as HMM. So far the Breaker is looking promising in terms of detail. After checking out the CG pics it appears all parts are movable. That puts it at an estimated 66 points of articulation. Pretty nice for a smaller scale figure~ EDIT: There's a Blog Entry for the Breaker now~

Is it just me, or does the ZA Breaker look a lot shorter than the HMM in terms of length? It seems to be missing half the neck.

This was intentional, according to the article. They wanted to go in a different direction than the HMM and really focus on bringing back the aesthetic of the Tomy version. The scrawniness of the HMM made it a lot less intimidating to me, so I'm glad to see this brought back. Everyone has their own preferences, though~
