Figured I would make a thread for this developing game certainly worthy of one. Keep track of it's progress. It now has a trial available to financial supporters of Animarokarintou. Enty page here : enty.jp/anomarokarintou Very exciting to see it progress to this stage. The 1000 yen a month option is the deal in order to play this one. An xbox 360 controller is required to play. Playing with keyboard only pretty much limits you to just running around and jumping. Which is what I had been doing so far. Quite a beautiful game from what I've seen. I'll be picking up an xbox 360 controller later so i can actually take one of the zoids, (Berserk Fury or Liger zero Caesar) for a run. So far in the level there are hills, those two zoids, a ramp to nowhere and some kind of house/base with beds inside from what I saw. As to be expected there are obvious glitchy things which he is taking comments on and already would know about but there is no way I would ever complain. Looking forward to picking up this controller to test it further.

Can somebody knowing Japanese give a little outline what the plan is for the game in term of goal and mechanics? In a video I've seen something which looked like pokemon (drop HP to 0 then try "catch" it to mount). From this video I conclude you have to catch wild Zoids later on to get your own. Let's see what comes out of it. The models are certainly detailed and the animation is good.

Yea I dare say the Japanese down the bottom of the screen would answer many of your questions. This video is a good watch too. I only just saw it now. After the 3:50 mark it has Liger zero Caesar doing a range of moves. Looks like I will not be getting a controller in today after all thanks to useless ebay sellers who say they do local pickup then don't allow it once purchased. I was so excited too, probably have to wait over the weekend. EDIT: Trial version to be released to public 14th May. . Time to obtain a controller if you don't have one. I assume that is what he means anyway, please don't throw things at me if wrong.

Let's see what comes out of it. The models are certainly detailed and the animation is good. Let's see... it's meant to be an open-world game similar to GTA, Fallout etc. Bases will let you heal, respawn and stock up on ammo. Weapons are all available from the start, and include a laser machinegun, sniper railgun, missile launcher, grenades, EMP mines, and the default hammer. There's also a camera that lets you take screenshots, a hoverboard and a glider to travel more quickly, and an armour shell to halve damage from Zoids. Lowering a Zoid's health to 0 knocks it out, after which you can repair it and then pilot it. Each Zoid has a melee combo and an EX attack, and more attacks will probably be added later. Currently usable Zoids are Berserk Fuhrer and Liger Zero Caesar The King, but Anomarokarintou has made plenty of other Zoid models in the past (including the Geno Ritter that's been standing around in a couple of videos). I don't think there's been any mention of a specific goal yet, but even a sandbox game should be cool if it keeps developing

Thanks for that insight Falcarius!, fantastic to know. It does sound like a very large scale game of pokemon lol, though good luck throwing one of them into a pokeball. Jokes aside I like that concept, It's like you gotta earn the zoids respect so they submit to you. An open world zoids game sounds like the best style for a zoids game possible.
He mentioned on Twitter tonight something about a Liger zero Pheonix being completed. A flying liger of sorts in that world would be very handy.

A regular game-pad is doing the job too? Still have one around from my NHL league days

I haven't downloaded this yet, but would any game controller work? I've got an old PS and Gamecube one, but don't have an XBox. I'll look into getting a USB controller or converter if neither are applicable.

Wait a minute... did you say "trial" version? You mean he's going to ask money for it once it's done (or before)? Uh ohhh... Foreign IP + ask for money = C&D minefield. He's better careful there. As soon as you ask for money (even just donation and especially up-front) your out of fair-use protection. That said I don't know how foxy they are. Maybe he is lucky and they let it slip.

I forgot to mention it in the previous post, but he's intending to release the finished version for free. The Enty donations are just for advance access to 3D models and test builds.

And oh so it is for free then, that's news to me. I was wondering how he would get around that. He seems to have done official work for the zoids franchise, Mirage fox promotion for example (unless they just made him put their official name to it for copyright) , thought maybe he could get away with more.

Latest video update is up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrIy1X1xRA4 The zoids movements are looking amazing, not sure if anything has changed there but still. The shields stay wherever they are applied, that amused me. Impressive though and well covering of the zoid, I love how berserk fury applies the shield using the egg beaters. Nearer to the end we get a very good look at the Ultrasaurus, right up it's back to the head. Quite the view from the cockpit up there. We see it at the start too like a selectable character?? I wonder if eventually it will be able to be piloted. Not something I can easily imagine though.

Saw that video earlier, and still just love how shiny the Zoids are. Does anyone know what song was used for when Caesar is running around with its boosters? As its switching to Fury.

Oh man, it's so pretty... Current title screen music is 草原をゆく by 秋山裕和, and the field music in the latest video is At the Mountains of Oreades by mozell (the previous video used Passing each other, also by mozell). Earlier videos used N周L辺A, 亡KEI却KOKU心 and MONOX from the Xenoblade Chronicles X soundtrack, but of course he couldn't keep using copyrighted songs.

Xbox control arrived. Had a good run around in the game and I think it's great!Good fun. I found even the glitches made the game entertaining. The controller joystick does a god job, both zoids walk when held slightly and run or float in the case of berserk fury when held all the way. The level has the city, beach area and ultrasaurus. and you can walk under the water, watching out for the odd deep trench. I tried running the liger up the ultrasaurus back, I got about a quarter of the way, gee that thing is huge. The zoids themselves have so much personality, Especially Berserk fury who does little head tilt things when doing certain moves, very cute Without flooding here with images I made bit of a silly picture compilation from the antics of todays run around.
