So I've been working on and off on the idea for a completely original Zoid design for three years now, and I've finally overcome some final creative blocks and started modeling. I'd assume this is the correct spot for it, feel free to move me if there's a more appropriate sub-forum.
Well, here is the Dimetros!
Classification - IZ-F13 Dimetros
Role - Espionage and extended intelligence missions behind enemy lines.
Armaments - Dual high sensitivity sensory interceptors, Dual front locked smgs, high density alloy fangs and claws.
*New* Terrain Capabilities - The Dimetros is built to be a mobile ground based sensor and espionage station, so it only makes sense that the majority of all operation time is on the ground. This however, is not true. The Dimetros' sensory equipment is rated for a max depth of 100 meters in water, and the frame was built to suit. The Dimetros also has some capabilities that are classified as of this moment, but will be revealed after the unit is fully operational and has been fully field tested.
Appearance - Based on the ancient creature the Dimetrodon, The Dimetros draws no historical connection to the Zenebas Zoids Dimetrodon or Gator, and is instead an original concept by a private corporation. With a more nimble design thanks to the Blox platform, the Dimetros is built to maximize speed over rough terrain, and with a collapsible sail storing most of the Zoid's sensors, this gives the Dimetros surprisingly good mobility even in low canopy environments. This sail is also variable in size, with it constructed to be able to be extended up to double its standard height to further increase effectiveness. A unique, highly treated alloy is used to coat the sail, helping decrease the impact having the sail deployed has on radar returns.
The Dimetros is a black ops oriented Zoid designed on the Blox platform for low cost and quick repairs, allowing it to operate for extended periods of time across enemy lines at a relatively low cost compared to other stealth oriented such as the Shadow Fox. Continuing along the low cost options, the Dimetros is typically not equipped with an active camouflage unit, instead relying on its smaller than usual silhouette and a recently developed chromatic paint designed to naturally adapt and change it's color to match the current palate of the the environment over the course of a few hours.
I plan on updating this post with more information as I work out the specifics over the next week or two. I hope to update every 2 or 3 days, so stay tuned!
For my current progress on the modeling, feel free to check out - flack41940.deviantart.com/gallery/58577618/Dimetros - Any suggestions or ideas are welcome, especially since this isn't as simple as my previous projects of just copying something.
~Current~ New picture uploaded! So the Sensory Backpack is more or less done, and I am really loving how it turned out. Really seems to flow with the rest of the body. Fun fact: The sail is actually intact and part of the model, this is just roughly what it will look like when the sail is retracted. Very low profile. More to come soon!
