The Zoids Aggressive "Blade Liger AB" has been confirmed at Winter Wonderfest 2016. There was also a confirmation for Mugen Liger, which can be found in its own topic. If I'm not mistaken the Blade Liger AB is mentioned to have been popular with the yearly Kotobukiya polls. After getting the Murasame liger, I was kind of bummed that it was 1:100 scale because it didn't fit nicely with my collection, all the typical 1:72 scale. Maybe I need to start a second collection of 1:100 scale…. XDDD The other poses for this on the blog look great too! Definitely will be getting these two.
But, also, it loses some charm that it's not a kit, mostly prebuilt, but maybe that's just me. XDDD I enjoy working on the model kits, and if they switch over to more ZA than HMM, it'll lose a bit of that novelty… I digress.
Still a gorgeous figure, undoubtedly will come in the blue color scheme. XP Will definitely buy.

DEFINITELY buying. Looks great and I'm really happy they didn't just rehash the HMM design and went with an original mold. The AB unit looks a little bulky, I'm hoping it's removeable.

I suspect ZA is (and probably will be) running faster than HMM just because of the ease of production. HMM kits average 500 parts. ZA is probably less than 75. I imagine ZA is separate and sure hope it does not detract from HMM too much.
I do love this bladey but something is coming off strange about the proportions. Maybe it's just the viewing angle. The AB seems bulkier than usual, maybe? I also prefer the aerodynamic tail armor design over the giant bulky block they went with for this one. Nonetheless I'm very glad they expanded the design to different details and aesthetic, instead of recycling HMM design. It'll set it apart from the smaller scale Bladey stuff I've already got. Also love the more traditional canopy style~
EDIT: Haha, didn't see your post pinkoctillery but I guess we have more or less similar opinions on this one!

Yeah, I thought the AB units look chunky too, but I think it just looks closer to the original NJR version of the AB Unit. I too was hoping they'll be removable though. XP

I'm not gonna lie; I really want to just play with a Blade Liger. I hope Koto avoids the cheese yellow color though.

Great to see really, And I like the proportions of the zoid itself, I think many may have become used to the lankiness of the kotobukiya design. This one seems more anime accurate. Though In agreement with most here I am also not a fan at all of the booster unit. Even on the kotobukiya I just found they never looked quite right and always thought the original looked more like Vans Blade Liger. Checking the Anime I was right with that feeling. Heck the things only seemed to appear in episode 52 after Dr D's experiments with them. After which there are some filler episodes. Then they reappear in this one shot: Then literally in the next shot they are just magically gone again and Vans blade liger goes without for the rest of the series. Soo yea I too hope they are a removable feature.

ZA Blade Liger really does look more like the Blade Liger in anime.

The anime I think is what's giving me pause over the proportions. The head appears disproportionately small compared to the bulk of the legs. I'll be able to have a clearer idea once we see a side shot. Though seeing those screenies, maybe the problem is that the AB unit is /twice/ as big as it is in the show! Not abnormal for kits, but still.
I'm also a bit sad to see the uniformity go. It's a huge part of Blade Liger's aesthetic to me, how the mane and armor lines up so perfectly. None of the mane pieces line up anymore. It is great for "Angry cat mode", though. And I do love that they tried to include the extendy-claws.

I've always found the proportions of the Attack Boosters in relation to the Blade Liger to be problematic for just about every version of the Blade Liger out there, they look best on the HMM and then only with the guns opened up and pointing forwards. The prototype does look cool but like others I'd hope the boosters can be removed.

Yeah proportions have always been tough, the original zoid models just had really nice aesthetic proportions that we're all used to, that are related to their actual ability to move with motorized pegs and levers.. the rest had to be in your imagination, but when you actually try to articulate those, you find that at a REAL run, legs just clip right through other body parts (especially side-mounted liger accessories). In the anime they just let them clip but mostly preserved or even improved proportions. in most of the articulated models and figures though, they've made major changes in the name of not making it a brick. At least this one doesn't make the HMM mistake of making the forearms and feet the same length, but in general femurs and tibiae seem to have real difficulty looking right in articulated figures.

Kotobukiya posted a colored image page for this on their site, but it appears to be lower end CG renders...? Not the actual kit. Seems a bit premature, but I guess they just couldn't wait. Wonder if they'll replace them with actual product shots later? Ordering from Kotobukiya Direct will earn you a Republican Flying Stand. Wonder if this is the same limited stand sold for the D-Style Blade Liger?

I am sure this has been asked to death by now, but what 3rd party services could a non-Japanese Zoids lover use to order directly from the Koto Direct? I have GOT to get me one of those stands.

Celga, FromJapan, Jauce, etc. I'd expect around $15-$25 extra than ordering from another store. Average $10 fee and prooobably not expensive enough to qualify for free shipping from Koto, but I could be wrong on that!
