I'm not calling it a poor quality kit and am aware that these marks are necessary for unpainted kits, but I still feel that it could have been done better. When I say they should have gone the extra mile, I mean that a lot of the pieces could have easily been placed in a way that would put the sprue marks somewhere (mostly) out of view.
For example, the front leg armor is a wrap-around part. It would have taken up no more space on the sprue to flip it, so that the connection area was on the inside of the leg. This would've held the part just as well, with no risk of breaking, only it would've put the mark out of sight. Instead of on the outside of the leg, where it's blaringly obvious from any viewing angle of the armor sides.
Koto also seemed previously conscious of how much sprue marks bother some people, by providing color mixing guides for all of their HMM kits. It was a shame to see that the Murasame Liger did not come with this. I realize this is a simple luxury, but a shame to see dropped after their other Zoids line was so consistent about it.

Yes, that may have been a bit... putting-words-in-mouths, so I'm sorry for that.
As for sprue arrangements... steel injection molds are very expensive but beyond that I don't know much about that side of the toy production business. There may be reasons for things being the way they are, but anything I've got to suggest on that side of things is very much just speculation.

yeah, my Murasame has some scuff marks from supposed sprues as well. doesn't bother me that much haha personally, I'm happy they went with articulated figures over model kits for once. I LOVE figures, and as much as I also love my models, it's nice to have something that I can just play with without worrying about parts flying off or breaking or whatever. I've always wanted a super sturdy HMM that I can just pick up and mess around with it, but unfortunately there are very few like that. I really really really hope they take this line far, because I would absolutely love a bunch of sturdy Zoids toys that I can play with all I want without the stress haha I already got my Hayate preordered, and I'm honestly thinking about buying every single kit they release in this line. I can't wait to see prototypes of Mugen

Got my Murasame yesterday! (should've had it sooner but paypal mucked up my payment urgh) Quite a fantastic figure, IMO. Great articulation (in some places better than HMMs, specifically the feet and body). The infamous sprue marks aren't bothering me one bit. So used to seeing them on my other figures I guess. Worth noting I prefer figures over kits, have a lot of joint problems in my hands so getting a Zoid I don't build is a welcome change. My one and only complaint would be the side mane parts not swinging out further to give more room for the shoulders. Can manage by fudging with it but a little bit more outward movement would've helped a lot.

my murasame's side mane bits swing out quite a decent bit, I think it would look pretty awkward for them to go out much more haha I'm glad you're enjoying him! I'm happy that most people I see that get him are liking him, the Japanese fans on twitter are loving him.

I gotta agree on preferring figures over kits. Maybe because for a long time the selling point of kits was motorized features but I just never use them. Being able to pose something cool before it goes on the shelf is more important, display wise, and IMO more fun. Especially when they don't fall apart. Actual action figures I will take down and play with every once in a while but I am too nervous to do this with HMM. *Needs to get used to gluing more parts just afraid to do so in case I need to disassemble later to tighten joints*

Has anyone figured out this last little piece here? Last box in the instruction manual. I assume it is an attachable piece in order to utilize a display stand . The instructions appear to indicate something comes off in order for this little piece to be fitted yet I've searched multiple times since I got it last week but still have no idea where it is meant to attach to.

On his belly mid section there is a square that's barely noticeable. You'll see a tiny notch under one of the ridges. Use a knife to pry this loose, then pull it off. Inside there's a screw. You can use that part to fill in the ugly screw mark and, as you guessed, use a flying base.

Oh got it, Thanks! I grabbed a knife and stuck it under the ridge to pry off not sure what to expect and the square shape came out, it was so well blended in I never would have got that. An optional belly button for Murasame.
