I am seriously not digging the Agrressive Murasame's colors anymore. The original TOMY kit, despite all its faults, look way cooler and more detailed.
Still, Aggressive Murasame has some damn good articulation.

The Tomy Murasame had virtually the exact same colors and no more detail. It actually came with the mane unpainted, iirc. You had to put stickers on to get the white parts. The one shown in photos is a special edition that has been touched up and panel lined, so the comparison photos should be used as a size reference only and not to compare the out-of-the-box quality.

Thanks for posting~ I was looking for a picture of it without the stickers added earlier but couldn't find any. That one shows the out-of-the-box colors and details a lot better.
Still appreciate the photo review posted earlier though. ZA Murasame has a LOT of really nice aesthetic angles and stuff. While it could use some panel lining I gotta say it looks really good. A little surprised how small it looks but I'll have to judge that when mine comes in next week. Real excited to get it!

It's occurred to me lately that ligers and stuff are just huge as crap, and when we're used to them being the "normal", everything else just looks tiny by comparison. But most toys just... aren't that big.

Imagine that a GI Joe figure scaled Liger (1:18) would be about the size of a live jaguar, it kinda makes you think.

I seem to recall there being a fairly prominent custom 1:18 Iguan that looked pretty great but I can't remember where I'd have seen it. It's an oldie.

But most toys just... aren't that big. I think that's what I always adored about zoids. When I was a teenager, all the old stuff, transformers, voltron, power rangers... it was starting to look tiny because I'd gotten bigger. Then here comes zoids and yay look there's a yellow sabertooth tiger and a bunch of colored lions and a bunch of neat dinosaurs.. it's everything I liked in robot form, but bigger and more fun

Got mine in today. He's a very... lightweight toy. Not cheap feeling, just... could use some more mass. A few metal bits in the legs would go a long way, but you can put him in a pose and he stays in it well.
No ratcheting joints (they're all nice and smooth), tail is flexible wire, good range on his articulation (every point that 'should' be is, basically)... The only actual flaw I can think of isn't even Koto's fault. Ligers just aren't designed with actual movement in mind. Their manes bang into their shoulders.
Japanese retail on him is around 6k yen, which is ~$48 USD right now. Through Amiami I got him for about 4800y, which is ~$39. This price, both before and after Amiami's discounted price, is comparable with Bandai's Robot Damashii/Robot Spirits line... Which, on average, are anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4ths the size, but usually include a healthy amount of accessories.
It's a fair price compared to just about every other Japanese collector-oriented toy line, and it's a good toy. I'm eagerly waiting to see how far Kotobukiya takes this line.

Got mine a few days ago, and while I'm in love with the articulation (backwards rotating paaawwwsssss) I was kind of put off by the absurd amount of sprue marks. To me it looks like this was designed as a snap together kit, and just pre assembled. You can expect any action figure to have to be assembled at some point during the process but this really does just look like a built model kit... I kind of feel like if they were going to make it a snap together kit, they should've just released it as one, and if they were going to go the action figure route they should've gone the extra mile to make it look like one. None of my other Zoids figures have this problem. While it's as articulated as expected it's also not any more articulated than the average HMM, IMO. Less so, considering the head limitations (which should at least be able to move up and down better). That all aside, I do honestly still love the kit and I'm super excited for the Hayate Liger. Murasame didn't look quite as small as I expected it to in person. It's really a perfectsize and the blade details are just stunning. They inkwashed the script beautifully, and there are one or two other areas on the kit that do this.

Those marks are troubling... I can't say I've noticed a lot of toys in the store that have sprue marks on them.

All toys DO. It's inescapable. It's part of the injection molding process. Looking at those photos, every production plastic toy I've ever handled has those same marks. Every single one. The only ones I've handled that don't are ones that are also fully painted and finished. I'm talking hundreds of toys. Those marks you've highlighted aren't a sign of poor quality.
That's not even an unacceptable level. I've seen some toys (of actual poor quality) where the assemblers just didn't bother cleaning off sprue remnants at all and just threw it all together.
