Shuffles happen, and post counts don't mean as much as post content... but I know what you mean. I just wish the reins could have been passed to a new admin rather than to let it go.
However, knowing a few things about the world, I would like to ask a more important question of the community...
does anyone know if Liem and his family are okay?

The big thing was for me that I didn't really have much of a life in 2009. Zoidspoison was my escape, and I was a know-it-all who just posted because he could. My input wasn't necessary and I rarely contributed to discussion in a meaningful way. By my late teens, I FINALLY woke up and started to make attempts at improving the quality of what I was positing. Im happy I dont feel the "need" to post on a 24/7 basis; no one on this earth is so important that every thought that comes into their head needs to be written down on a website. My time in this community made me realize that.
Come to think of it....have we heard from him since the typhoon in the Philippines last year?

You would be astonished how many people on the Internet think they need to tweet/facebook/enter-other-crappy-web20-crap-here every fart coming out of their rear end. #.=.#

I dunno, with the way things have cooled down around Zoids, it's not like there's thousands upon thousands of people out there posting a million things, and no matter where you go, the important stuff doesn't get buried under a sea of spam. I'm really just glad there's anyone at all left online that I can talk Zoids with. So are we sure that the Zoidspoison data's gone? Because... that's a lot of good stuff. A lot of good stuff.

Just received word that Liem has made contact... here's the skinny, folks:
"he is doing ok, he is just busy at work lately and maintaining the website and hosting for quite a bill isnt worth it anymore."
"ownership may be an issue with him. since he did start it all. its only pheno who passed the torch to his forum"
I will continue to see if there are any options open to save/restore ZP, but would hope that, if it can be done, Pheno's and ZP could both become stronger.

I guess I can understand that but it would have been really nice to have at least some warning. Hopefully something can be done but it certainly sounds like things are done for.

Idk, just seems.... selfish? Kinda pissed about that but whatever. Who am I Yeah, I dunno, I don't know Liem at all and I certainly don't fault him for not wanting to run the website anymore - that's totally understandable. But how hard would it have been to at least make sure somebody with the time and resources could've salvaged the information before he let ZP die? Hurm.

I was kind of hoping for a better excuse.

We are several here to follow and wanting to ZP to go on. When Liem made me an admin several years ago, I knew it was because he wanted to take a little distance with Zoids and the forum. But I was thinking he was still here. If it is to really give up, he should give the codes of the forum. Even as an admin, I don't have all the codes. If it is only to find money to keep ZP, we are able to find it. If someone can send him this message (as he doesn't answer to mines): give us all the keys of ZP please, if you don't want it anymore. We will use them to make it live again.

Poor ZP.. Really sad to see it go down after getting more comfortable there. I only had a short time there so my heart goes out to those who lost much more.. I've been part of meaningful communities that die for one reason or another and have been hit hard by it myself (CA.Org anyone?). Can't help but feel a bit peeved at this Liem guy... Glad to see the community surviving, though.

I certainly know how this is. I've lost a huge forum too I had been made Admin off. There is just nothing you can do. It's quite selfish since I guess (I had not been too long on ZP) on ZP there had been as much work intensive user content posted as that forum that recently slipped through my fingers. You might not be interested in a forum anymore as Owner but does this give you the right to just destroy anything work intensive (and perhaps sentimental) that a lot of other people have made on that place? After all that content is not his property even if the forum it has been posted on is.

While I fully appreciate his position and certainly his right to do what he feels he must, my only regret is that, as a community founder, I wish he had taken the time to ask around to his most trusted accounts, "hey, would you like to take this over?" Or see if the community would be willing to put up the annual payment for the site's maintenance. Heck, the annual contest could have a fee appropriate to cover the site costs, even if it was only $1 per entry.

The presence of the robots.txt file in the Zoids Poison domain tells me that he was likely aware service was going to lapse, and possibly refrained from warning people to prevent copy cats. He seems very adamant about not letting the site be brought back under someone else's ownership, which I can understand, but it's a shame. It's also likely why he didn't give people warning. Chances are someone would've just ripped the ZP data and rehosted the site after it shut down.

Well his decision pisses me off either way; sure he was paying for it but he should have gave us notice even if he didn't want it to come under different ownership. (which to me makes no sense if he didn't want the forum anymore anyway???) What he did was selfish and it cost a lot of people tons of loss of information and correspondence with other members. I'm pissed; he has no excuse.
