Hello everyone! I'm new to the boards and I'm desperately looking for some help on identifying some pieces in a large vintage Zoid collection that has been given to me. This collection actually belongs to my father (the both of us are huge toy, comic, and book collectors) and he really had no idea what he was buying when he originally purchased them decades ago, he just thought they looked awesome. In 2010, my mother spent 50 days in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center here in Seattle, clinging to life after suffering a stroke and subsequent brain aneurysms before she finally passed away, and no more than 4 days later my father was laid off from his job and has been unemployed ever since. Facing these tough circumstances, my father decided to get rid of absolutely everything he has collected and has enlisted my help in getting it done. Unfortunately, I'm not at all familiar with the Zoids line or their worth, which is why I'm seeking out the help of this great forum that I've stumbled across. From what I understand, a good deal of these are OJR, but it's been terribly hard trying to find out what exactly it is that I have and what their value is. Anyways, please take a look at the pictures I've provided and ABSOLUTELY ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!The 6 Zoids in the below image are all still in the box, unbuilt and unopened:AGAIN, ANY HELP AT ALL IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I must say that is a beautiful collection. o.o
I wish I could help on worth, but most likely a lot. Everyone looks complete and in very good shape.
I'd also recommend bringing this to Zoids Poison, if you can.

I've never heard of Zoids Poison until you mentioned it, so I'll most definitely give that forum a try as well! Thanks so much!

First, you have my sincere condolences for your loss. I lost my grandmother this year to a severe stroke after 14 days in the ICU and just this last week my mother in law had a brush with death that was caught in time (an intestinal blockage that the docs say would have killed her in 12-24 hours had we not dragged her to the ER). Collections are just things, but they are often dear things. I can help with a few items (and, if I had the cash, I would also buy them off of you). The large Godzilla-looking model is Gojulas, and I just saw one mint in box sell for $540 on eBay about a month or two ago. It's actually one of the holy grails I need for my own collection! The built one should go for at least $150-$200. I may be a bit rusty on these prices, but I'm going for conservative estimates based on OJR items. Anyone please feel free to correct me or update these:

I believe the Gojulas and Gordos boxes are empty.

Tragedies and close calls such as these really put things in perspective and sometimes make you realized that your priorities are all out of whack. Anyways, I can't express how appreciative I am for you help (even if you are a bit rusty on the prices!), the hardest part was just trying to identify the smaller pieces that were without their original boxes, and you've helped me greatly with that, so thank you! Based on the prices you listed I'm going to try and shop these around to a few stores near Seattle and see if I can get anything for them, before I give Ebay a try. Thank you again Maethius!

I still say offer some pieces to collectors first. A shop might try to screw you on price.

Oh man that is an amazing collection! agreed with theflamecrow, shops now probably don't even know what they're worth XD ebay is your best bet - you can reach more collectors and possibly sell them for higher (although reasonable prices are better) there.

Yeah, I figured as much with the whole shops thing and just went ahead and threw them up on Ebay with a best offer option, just to see what kind of response I get. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed! *bids $50* >.> x.x I hate being poor. The amount of want I have for that lot is insanely high. Also for packing, LOTS of bubble wrap. Zoids do not stay together well in shipping. If it looks like something that will break or fall off, it probably will. x.x Disconnecting legs or other parts and putting them in a ziplock bag helps. And then bubble wrap the *Watch your language!* out of it. XD You can never be too sure how the carriers will handle the package(s).

Try to eBay them as singles first; many collectors are willing to bid on a single rare model rather than go for a more expensive lot or a lot with kits they don't want. After you thin them on eBay then try placing the remaining small ones in lots. If all else fails, then I would go to shops; Xanadu Comics and Golden Age Collectibles are where I bought some of my early collection, and there is at least one shop in the International District where I purchases some Zoids2 kits.
Good luck!
